Help! Higher dose less days?! :(

Hi all

Due to confusion with dates the hospitals in Germany are closed one day i have planned my weeks treatment. I have flights and hotel booked so May not be able to cancel. They have offered if i can't change my dates to treat at a higher Dose of gray for 4 days rather than 5.

Has anyone heard of this. Is there any evidence of trials etc doing this? I have had one week already so this will be second. Im sure they wouldn't offer this without checking with Prof S but i wondered if anyone has heard of it?

Thanks...a concerned sufferer!

Hi, what dates are you going? I am going in July. I have not heard of this nor do I remember reading anything
Specific to this but I don't think I'd worry too much about it. Prof S knows more than we do, so I would just make sure he was the one that suggested this. I did not have my entire area radiated my first time with a different doctor and he seemed to think doing 3 courses would be fine. So, seems some leeway.

I m not a doctor ....but my understanding would be that you are more likely to experience mild burning....just ensure you treat you feet with plenty of urea based cream to mitigate it.....

Just remember that the 3g dose given for LD and DD is very low...

Hi Both.

Thanks for your replies. I don't know who suggested this but im assuming it would have been run past the Prof first or another person.

Im not sure how advanced the machines are i don't know if it will deliver 3.75 gray or 4?

I assume the skin may react more as you say. Ill keep moisturising. I think the fact i have week one normal im assuming the week 2 at just one day less will be just as safe and advantageous.

Id love to get hold of the prof to check but i believe he is away at the moment.

Not quite sure what to do!

Re: Help! Higher dose less days?! :(

For information they have told me there will be the following to get around the 4 days instead of 5. And now they send it , i think i read someone else having this treatment a while back. In this forum probably.

Monday 3gray
Tue, wed, thur 8am - 2gray 4pm 2 gray

Making the total of 15Gray with a minimum of 8 hours between sessions. Does mean double visits to the hospital, but thats not a problem, its what im there for.

Has been done before i have been told and like i say i remeber someone else reporting this ill try and find it.

Thanks all
