My ledderhose

I am a 41 french guy into sports, gym, running. I noticed a small nodule under my left foot couple of months ago. Went through doctors no one knew what it was. Blood tests said nothing till I met a guy who perform me the irm and explained to me it was ledderhose. The only he kept saying is " the piece of advice I can give you is to never get it removed or your problems would really start there !"
It grows, not very much but it sure does. I cannot stop running for I would turn crazy if I could not run anymore. The thing is that I can never tell when it hurts. It sometimes hurts a lot but if I donnot focus on the pain, I noticed it goes away. I am a sophrologist and an therapist (shrink) and I can write for sure that my ledderhose pain thing is directly connected to the way I behave. If I am sort of sad, mad, but above all nervous, it automaticaly hurts in the nodule. If I am happy I can sometimes hurts too. But happiness does not bring the pain. Sadness and nervosity does for sure.

I will grow old with it. I will not get operated if I can. My mother does very ugly scare and I remember a doctor saying to me that the nodule was like a scare in the flesh for it was hurted too frequently in the past. He said I might have cause pains in the flesh under my left foot, very often, and after a moment, the response to this traumas was this reactions. If we get it removes it is a catastrophy.
The flesh will automaticaly creates several news nodules as scares.

Re: My ledderhose

You came to the right place to find out about your disease.

Did you notice that you can get this Forum in French? Look at the 2nd line from the top of this page. The French Forum would be helpful.

It sounds like radiotherapy or RT, also called radiation therapy, may be a possible treatment for you. Look in the Treatment menu at the top of this page and you will find Radiotherapy. It has Overview, Side Effects, Clinics, and Literature. There is much good information to read.

I had RT on my hand done in San Diego, and it stopped the progression of my Dupuytren's. Others have had RT successfully done for Ledderhose on their feet. Prof. Seegenschmiedt who is in Hamburg, Germany does RT. Many people from the US, Australia, and all over Europe prefer to go to him. He is outstanding. You can call or email his office for information.

If you use the French Forum, please come back to this English Forum and let us know:
* if the French Forum was helpful,
* what questions you still have,
* what you decide to do, and
* your foot is doing.
People on this Forum really care. Those who have Ledderhose will share their experience with you.

There are other radiotherapy Clinics in Europe listed in the Treatment section, but below is the information for Prof. Seegenschmiedt that was copied from Treatment menu.

Advice for visiting the Hamburg clinic

We look forward to hearing how it goes for you.

Re: My ledderhose

Averyck,

Welcome to this Forum... Like Flora said you have come to the right place. Flora has given you the best advice. Read all you can on this Forum and come back with more questions. You can also use the "Search" feature on the upper right hand corner of this page to find answers to all kinds of subjects and questions.

Radiation Therapy (RT) can be very helpful for beginning stages of Ledderhose and it is a good idea to treat it early because surgery (especially for Ledderhose) should be your last resort.

I had RT for two large, hard nodules on the bottom of my left foot in November 2009. After more than two years, the nodules are 90 percent gone, and I am very satisfied with the results, so far. If you live in Paris it would be a great idea to travel to Germany for consultation/treatment, like Flora advised. Dr. S. is the top expert in treating Dupuytrens and Ledderhose with Radiation Therapy.

The French Forum would be a good place for you to post comments in French, which would make it easier for you, but there is not enough information on the French Forum for you to learn on the subject of Ledderhose as it is discussed on this English Forum.

Best of luck and keep us posted.
