Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Thanks David - this is good news, which will give me hope in case the pain doesn't settle down.

BTW, the nerve pain was a little better today, so I got some rest.

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Di,

You wanted to know the exact ingredients of the cream I use ( use it for my DD as well, separate rx from differnt Dr. but same mix) It is: 240 CPD mix (Verapamil 0.2% Lido 2% in Lipoderm)
Apply a thin layer to the area two times a day. It is a compound you need to take script to a pharmacy that does compounds (not all do). Some require 24 hours advanced notice as it takes a while to prepare.

I have found a pharmacy that will deliver so I am thrilled, no more waiting around for hours which is what I was doing rather than going back 2 days in a row as it is not close.

I have found the lidocaine mixture deadens so well that if applied with my fingers I loose feelings in them so I apply with a baggie. It really works for the LD and DD pain relief and shrinks both, especially the LD nodules.

I went to my internist and requested it for my DD pain as the ortho Dr I had (no longer use him) was not interested in my pain. My internist was not familiar with the rx but she wrote it (per my specifications) for me as I was already using it sucessfully on my feet ( from poditrist) and had tried it on my hands and it was helping and needed a separate script for them.

I hope you can find a compassionate Dr to write the script.

PS Didn't have my setting on notification and just saw this message.

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Hi,

I´m glad (sorry) to hear that Im not the only one with nervpain. My Pd. sais it cant have anything to do with LD. strange...

I´ve taken Lyrica before. It helpt me a bit with the nervpain but i could´nt stand the side effekts. So for you that dont get sideeffekts, it can be a god drug. Now Im on Gabapentin and it havn´t given me that much sideffekts. And it takes away the nervpain in my foot, leg, back, head - but i kant take the last pain in teh foot, but it makes my life guite god.

The cream that someone mentioned seems very good, but it isnt available in Sweden ( not even for Pd), so it might take som time before it will be possible to try.

God luck to you all.

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

My newest podiatrist did not know about the Verapamil cream for LD and (DD) nor did my Internist. Some time we have to educate the Drs :) I passed on the info to my new podiatrist and my new internist. My Podiatrist actually thanked me for telling him about it.

Perhaps if you give the formula to your Dr. he/she will write the script, I find it hard to believe it is not available in Sweden, sometimes drugs are called other names in Foreign countries, you might have to do some research. The drug is acually used for heart patients and is ground up with lidoderm in a cream. The agent that helps shrink the vessels for heart patients shrinks the nodules in LD and DD and the lidoderm deadens our pain, works wonders. I would ask around.

Kajsa, Sweden

I´ll continue to educate evere "doc" I meet, it goes slowly forwards. But when it comes to drugs, so is it many drugs that isnt aproved and/or available in sweden. I ead a lot of Pharmacology, and when I read about the cream I instantly understood that this cream can realy work. It is a genious kombination. But tos ingredients is only available in dry substans (pills) in Sweden. Maybe if I can find som Pd that will try to mix it him self. But when I´ll get it, I will post it.
Thanks for all info. It is so good to have people out there nowing what pain is.

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Kajsa,

Yes the Verapamil is only in "pill" form here too that is why it has to mixed as a "compound". That means you take the script to a pharmacy that can grind the pills into a cream with the lidoderm in all the right combination producing a new prescription out of a pill used for heart patients. It think it is wonderful. And I do think Sweden has compund phamarcists they might just call them something else.

It would take some investigating on your part but if you were in the pain I was, it would be worth it.......

I have been to Europe (not Sweden though) and you can get prescription meds without presciption much easier there to obtain medication.

You might start on your computer putting in the word Verapamil and seeing if Sweden has something comparable. The more work you can do for the Drs the easier it will be. If you come in with all the info for a Dr they can hardly turn you down.

There are pages on the web listing the exact cream I am refering to as a help for LD and DD...maybe start there. Let us know if you find any information you can use.

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

David26:
Di, you will need to see a doc about the nerve pain (neuropathy). Typically they will prescribe Lyrica or something similar. I've had that issue with my DD (no Ledderhose). It's caused a neuropathy that I feel mainly in the balls of my feet (a burning type sensation). I coped with it for a while, then went on Lyrica which masks the sensation. Hopefully it will go away at some point.

Hi again David26
I was lucky enough that my neuropathy pain settled down so all I have to deal with is the general ache all over my feet, which doesn't feel much worse than a long day on normal feet. I do hope your pain settles one day too. Also, I'm not counting on it not coming back again at some stage, so appreciate the advice re pain management.
All the best
Di

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

disorder of unknown etiology characterised by local proliferation of abnormal fibrous tissue in the plantar fascia
- this tissue is locally aggressive and progressively replaces the normal plantar aponeurosis
- this leads to often painful thickened fascia with nodules from 0,5-3 cm in diameter
- may also infiltrate the dermis or very rarely the flexor tendon sheath (flexion contracture of 2nd toe)
- age range from childhood until 6th decade, more common in men than in women
- 25 % of patients have bilateral involvement
- in older people sometimes associated to other fibromatoses like Dupuytren's in the hand or La Peyronie's disease,
a fibrous infiltration of the corpora cavernosa
- increased incidence in patients with:
- diabetes mellitus
- seizure disorders

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Can anyone tell me how much Verapamil ointment you get at one time. My doctor wrote a scrip but it is for such a small amount. Thanks

Re: Pain from Ledderhose and relief

Hello,
I have been using the topical transdermal verapamil 15% gel since March 2013. PDLABS in Texas is the Only pharmacy that has the patent on this medication. If you order it from any other compound pharmacy it is known as counterfiet medication. It does not work to the extend that it should. I have been down both roads.
check out there website.

http://www.pdlabs.net/plantar_fibromatos...el_plantar.html

Contact Patti Lundblade with PDLABS the one pharmist that makes the compound medication. it is easy to get thru the phone lines and they are very helpful. toll-free: 1-800-687-9014

I do not know how to insert a photo or I would show you the proper amount. The medication comes in 2 tubes and last for 1 month. You apply it morning and night. The color & consistency is that of vaseline.

Hope this is helpful
