Prefer to walk barefoot

Just wondering, as soon as I put on shoes, my feet start that strange itching/burning sensation. They feel best barefoot. Can anybody explain why? I have good shoes, that should not be the problem.
Thanks.

Re: Prefer to walk barefoot

Hi - i can't say why that would be but my 8 year old daughter who has a PF in her foot is exactly the same barefoot if she can get away with it as she says it is far more comfortable and certain shoes are better for her than others.
Interestingly we had quite a bad year with her last year with pains in her feet, she grew 3 shoes sizes over the year and since her growth rate has slowed down her pf has got smaller and is less painful

Same with me. I also have less trouble when I wear flip flops. I always think it's because if there is any swelling or inflammation, it is not all bottled up in a shoe, and flip flops slide off easy when sitting down. When I was first diagnosed, I only bought the best recommended shoes and socks at specialty foot care shops. I thought if I paid special attention to my feet, I could avoid some of the problems other people have had. I spent quite a bit of money before it dawned on me that barefoot felt best and it was free.

Same for me as well. Flip flops are best. Barefoot is great when sitting but unless I'm walking around on carpet I don't go barefoot much. After observing this for a couple of years, my take on it is most of the weird sensations come from the pressure of the shoe on the foot, especially if it is a snug fit. Loose fitting shoes like flip flops or sandals work best.

Re: Prefer to walk barefoot

Anyone tried Crocs?

I recently had a small operation in the local hospital. All the surgeons and nurses wore crocs. I noticed but did not make any connections at the time.

Then recently I became aware they have a whole range not only for us normal consumers but also professional and medical grades!

I have not tried them myself but they look roomy, and it would be interesting to hear feedback from people who have LD or other feet troubles, and especially if they used any of the specialist range of crocs?

Both me and my daughter wear fitflops - my daughter Ellen for her ledderhose and me for my planter fascitis - in croc style. I work as a veterinary nurse and am on my feet for 12 hour shifts and they are the most comfotable shoes - Ellen's school weren't happy about her wering croc style shoes to school but they have helped

Interesting. I've had plantar fasciitis for two years, and Fitflops sandals are the only things I can wear inside or out that doesn't aggravate it. However I also tried a pair of Fiflop clogs and they are not the same and don't help.
