Re: Queston for those who have had RT in LaJolla
You can find information on this web site, e.g. on http://www.dupuytren-online.info/radioth...literature.html. The maximum dose applied for Dupuytren's or Ledderhose Disease is 30 Gy. According to research by Seegenschmiedt's team 20 Gy seem to still give good results http://www.dupuytren-online.info/radioth...literature.html . A few clinics experiment with 15 Gy which would allow a later second round of treatment if required.
The fractioning of treatment, i.e. the splitting into several days and maybe with a longer break in between, is meant to give the skin time to recover and thus minimize immediate side effects.

Only few groups have actually published their long-term results ! That seem s to me the best quality and clinical experience which a group can show to their potential patients . The longest experiene best data to my knowlege com from Germany

No other group has yet published larger numbers and better outcome ! LaJolla and others still have to make their proof !

Re: Queston for those who have had RT in LaJolla
Thank you Wolfgang and Larry for taking time to respond! It is much appreciated..
I read the article "Radiotherapy for Non-Malignant Disorders" Dupuytren's" and found it very difficult reading. I wish I could say I understood it all!
I also read RADIOTHERAPY FOR PRIMARY OR RECURRENT MORBUS LEDDERHOSE: 12 YEAR LONG-TERM OUTCOME OF A PROSPECTIVE PHASE 2 TRIAL. Yes, the Germans seem to have outstanding research and results!!
I really wish I could afford to go to Germany!! I am very lucky I can afford to stay in La Jolla for 2 weeks. I will be in financial trouble if I have to go back for another round of RT!
I really hope/pray we can all get the best possible treatment someday! For now, I have to settle for the best I can get.... and hope/pray for the best possible results!
Thanks for your input!
Debbie
