I had Radiotherapy done by Prof. Seegenschmiedt in 07 on both hands and feet. I had the RT. on a repeat surgery on my right hand which had developed two keloids on my thumb and forefinger. The RT. is not a problem to an area of surgery and infact in the case of keloids is done immediately after surgery . The Rt. will certainly soften the scar tissue. I would not have the whole area of the feet irradiated. Some times the greater time between treatment is an advantage. I waited 3 months between treatments to fit in with my travel plans. On my 1st return to Germany we found another nodule on one foot outside the treatment area and the oncologist increased the target area. Obviously the smaller the nodule and the earlier the treatment the better.

Australia Calling, Hi Jery. In your post you say you had radiation for 5 weeks 5 days a week. What was the total GY. in the treatment. I have never heard of being treated for 5 weeks 5 days a week .

Australia Calling. Hi Di. The fact is I visited the Royal Adelaide Hospital on 07 and it was clear that the Oncology Dept. then were only treating Cancer Patients and a few keloids after surgery. They advised they could administer the treatment, but I did not wish to be the bunny . On the completion of my treatment in Germany,I made contact with Dr. Borg in Adelaide . I found via the internet, that he was interested in the treatment of Non Malignant Disorders. Whilst in Germany I purchased the Book Radiotherapy for Non Malignant Disorders writtten by the Prof. and others and when I met with Dr. Borg, he was very interested and I left the book with him. He had been incontact with Prof. Seegenschmiedt. in the treatment of Heel Spur and was aware of his work .He advised me that he had treated Ledderhose over previous years with RT. with good results. He then made a decision to list on the Dupuytren Web Site. For Interest sake In Germany alone they treat over 40,000 patients annually for 29 Non Malignant Disorders.
I did also make Contact with Dr Greg Wheeler in April 08 at PeterMac Hospital(Victoria) who is the head of the Oncology, he had treated patients with Dupuytrens. Quick Answer No. You will need to do your homework and be as informed as the Medicos. Have you read the protocol for RT on this site. A little tip might help with relief try using Euederm cream contains 10% Urea.(over the counter) Use it for a week to 10 days.When you get up in the morning sit on the side of the bed and using a tennis ball in the arch of the foot move it back and forth from the heel to the ball of the foot. If it feels ok put on a bit more pressure and stand up doing the same exercise for a few minutes. It is Not good idea to walk around bare feet . Prior to the RT. I wore Orthodics and found great difficulties even to walk over the beach, stepping on a small shell brought me to my knees. It is now over 3 years /no orthodics and no problem going to the beach. Hi Again , I have personally made contact with Greg Wheeler and he responded back in 08 . Other posts have mentioned Chris Wratten in Newcastle. I did phone his secretary to obtain his details. Unfortunately the user on our forum never posted on the results .I did phone John Kearsley's secretarty to find out if they offered RT for the treatment of Dupuytrens . I obtained the contact information and because I have been in and out of Australia for long periods I never had time to follow through. I had good intentions so that the info would be available. I would suggest sending an email along with the literature. on the protocol .Regards.
