Size of fibromas/nodules

Hi All

Looking for some information about Ledderhose/plantar fibromas.

What is the typical size of a fibroma/nodule?

I have one 5cm in diameter in my right foot and 4.5cm in my left foot. Are these large? Small?

Re: Size of fibromas/nodules

Hi Atters

I don't have LD so am not really in a position to say, but based on seeing others photos they are not small. Often they are like icebergs and go deeper into the foot than is visible or even palpable.

More important however is how much pain they cause you, and whether you can manage as is, or with orthotics, or are now considering treatment via RT because of pain, difficulty walking/standing, etc?

Best wishes SB

Re: Size of fibromas/nodules

I've been struggling with mine since March 2016. Finally got to see the consultant at the hospital in July and he's recommended injection which I'm having September 20th.

I'm a Phys ed teacher so on my feet all day - lots of pain in the right foot, left foot not so bad.

Re: Size of fibromas/nodules

Atters,

About the same size as mine, I am currently doing the RT treatment.
I don't know if they are big or small, don't get to see other people's lumps live, just know they hurt to walk on.
After 1st session of RT no positive gains so far, next round starts 11th Sept, patients is not 1 of my good points.

Cheers, John

Re: Size of fibromas/nodules

From talking to the consultant he has only suggested injection or shock wave therapy. He didn't think shock wave therapy would help though. He's also advised that I probably won't get any pain relief from the injection but it will hopefully stop it getting bigger. Think he said I could have up to 3 injections, then only other solution offered would be surgery.

I'm reluctant to have the surgery, but the nature of my job means I need to be active and being in constant pain is really getting me down. Seems such a long time since I was able to do anything pain free.
