Treatment for Ledderhose in Canada

Are there any Canadians on this forum that have found help from Canadian doctors regarding Ledderhose? I need to find someone near Calgary, AB who can help me.

Thanks for your input.

Those who I know - after long search - were travelling to HAMBURG to see Prof. Seegenschmiedt; you may approach them to get advice from them about seeking a Canadian radiotherapist with experience ...

or on this forum:

Leona, I was just doing a search here, and found a doctor in London, CANADA...... ---Go over to the Depuytren Society, and open it up, and then click on ADVISORY BOARD and his name is Dr. David O'Gorman. Check him out...

Good Luck....

Re: Treatment for Ledderhose in Canada

David O'Gorman and his team are researching the cellular basis of Dupuytren's disease, e.g. "The potential roles of cell migration and extra-cellular matrix interactions in Dupuytren's disease progression and recurrence." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19896280. This is (important) basic research snd I doubt whether he is treating Ledderhose. But maybe he can point to someone else who does it.

Have you had any success in finding a Canadian doctor?

I had surgery on BOTH feet in August. Still in discomfort, lumpiness etc. I don't think all lumps were removed. I would like to find a radiotherapy doctor in Canada, preferably Winnipeg!

Re: Treatment for Ledderhose in Canada

Strong recommendation to go to Germany, they REALLY UNDERSTAND all aspects of the disease. I got an additional magnetic resonance imaging there for diagnosis of relapse, after I failed surgery to begin with ! The palpation and examination were excellent; treatment with ionising radiation appears to hit these really bad cells called fibroblasts !

My both feet are now quiet und fully functionable ! Thx to RT : Good success, Larry
