Dupuytrens in both hands, trigger finger and Carpal tunnel

I have had both my hands operated on for Dups and now have a trigger finger and Carpal tunnel. Has anyone else with Dups have this? I'm 54 years old and male. I worked heavy construction all my younger years and drank and smoked heavily in my teens and early twenties. Most of my friends did too but only I have Dups and the rest that I mentioned. I've also had both my shoulders operated on and my lower back. I'm still employed and plan to stay so.

Re: Dupuytrens in both hands, trigger finger and Carpal tunnel

So sorry to hear about your conditions.

Some of us were very lucky to have this Dupuytren's Society, this website and Forum that gave us information so that we could consider treatment options like NA and RT rather than surgery.

I don't think it's confirmed by research, but there seems to be a connection with frozen shoulder and Dupuytren's. I'm not so sure about you other conditions.

Read everything you can find on this website and don't hesitate to come back and ask questions. There are wonderful, caring people on here with various experiences and lots of knowledge who will respond.

Re: Dupuytrens in both hands, trigger finger and Carpal tunnel

I have Dupuytren's in both hands. I have not done anything yet. But, I am ready. I have had a trigger finger, and now it has become a stiff finger... lol..... also I had tendonitis in both hands. So you see you are not alone, we all get something. I am scheduled to do RT second week in June. Can't wait.

Have you seen the hand doctor???? What does he say about the finger and carpal tunnel???

I was advised by my hand doctor that surgery was my option, which is very quick and in his office would release the trigger.... I had scheduled it to do it a few weeks ago, but cancelled because I had been looking for a Radiologist to do my hands locally, which I did. After RT, I would go back to the hand surgeon and get him to fix the trigger finger.

Good luck

Re: Dupuytrens in both hands, trigger finger and Carpal tunnel

I am scheduled for both trigger finger and carpal tunnel to be operated on the same day in two months from now. Like you said, the trigger finger is a simple operation and the carpal tunnel is quite common too. The Dups is a real pain in the butt how it affected both of my hands as I am quite physically active but the surgery seems to have corrected that for now. I am still working on my right hand to regain mobility and the outcome seems quite good. I was told by the surgeon that I should expect the Dups to reoccur in both my hands as I am in my fifties.
Something to look forward to in my retirement. haha
