Anyone Tried Nitroglycerin Patch For DC?

I recently read an article in the AARP magazine for some new therapies for joint problems and some doctors seem to be getting good results with their patients with nitroglycerin transdermal patches. Although Dupuytren wasn't mentioned, has anyone here tried treatment for the condition with the nitro patches?

Right now, I am experiencing a lot of trouble with middle trigger finger on the left hand and noted swelling, pain, and stiffness mainly in the morning. I am a professional jazz keyboardist and a condition like this is really a grind living with it. I am using DMSO, heat, rest, etc. On this site, I have also learned about applying Vita E, enzymes, MSM, herbs, etc. I also had acupuncture treatments with electro stimulation to improve circulation to the area which seemed to help. Thanks katt

Agree, it is interesting. Will watch for what else you or others find out. I'll look around, too.

Re: Anyone Tried Nitroglycerin Patch For DC?

The nitroglycerin patch is a useful treatment to increase bone density in post-menopausal women with no known side effects and is very economical to use. It does not relate to a connective tissue disorder like Dupytren's.

There are thousands of companies trying to sell supplements and medications for anything and they may help or they make have serious side effects. The worst aspect is that effective treatment may be delayed and the disease progresses further than might have otherwise been the case.

To katt2012:
I agree with bstenman, most likely these patches won't help. Also the other remedies that you are mentioning are typically not effective either for Dupuytren's. Prior to contracture Dupuytren's can produce an irritating and sometimes even inconvenient feeling in the hand. Without treatment this feeling can get better and worse from time to time for unknown reasons. To correlate this to taking a specific diet or vitamine is difficult.

BTW, this site does not recommend "applying Vita E, enzymes, MSM, herbs". There is no evidence that these do any good for Dupuytren's. You must habe read this elsewhere.
