Hi when I spoke with Prof Seegenschmiedt in 2007 he made mention to avoid petroleum products for 4 weeks of so and to use a 10% urea cream. Just for information.
When he treated me six months ago he recommended a 4% urea cream.

Hello, What is the success rate with radiology after all these years? Is the Dupuytren's still active, are there other complications?

Hi. Don't know about the rate but it in my case the progression has stopped since 2015 RH and 2018 LH and I continue to be very satisfied with my decision and my investment.

Maybe ProfsS will update overall.
I had RT 11 years ago on one hand and 9 on the other.
11 years: no contracture or progression on the non-dominant hand, nodules softer, cords much the same and still present but DD basically dormant;
9 years: had a flare twice on the dominant use hand directly attributable to trauma of mis-handling tools, but went dormant again after some self-care, also had a new nodule for other reasons that went completely, get occasional symptoms but the hand is really used a lot and has other problems, and I'm really watching it like a hawk  although DD too seems currently dormant.
(I think Stef still splints but I don't bother)?

No contracture yet. I believe its in my feet as well. I have an appt with a hand surgeon in March but I am unsure what he is going to suggest. By the sounds both of you didn't get treatment until much later in your diagnosis?
Did you ever receive any injections for pain prior to radiotherapy?
There is also something out there called Modulated electro-hyperthermia (mEHT), anyone heard of that?

A hand surgeon may give you a steroid shot if there are signs of sore inflamed nodules or new progressing cords. It helps some people, and doesn't help others and is usually of short term benefit for people with diathesis. More likely they will say they can help when you have a contracture, with NA, Xiaflex or surgery.
I wonder why you are not consulting with the (UK equivalent of) a radiologist experienced in treating early DD? They may say 'too early' and put your mind at ease or 'lets treat now'. The answer to your question in your first post is the success rate for RT is somewhere in the region of 80%+ when done at the right time by an experienced radiologist.
I have not heard of mEHT for DD can you provide a reference?

Thanks klp for posting (now deleted) the research article on mEHT or Oncothermia. I did a search and found further studies on the application of hyperthermia for cancer. It seems this treatment is still in the research stage and requires further study or trials. I note that Dr Sean Ceaser at the Centre For Natural Pain Solutions offers this treatment (for cancer). Perhaps if you follow this route for treatment of your DD condition you will return to the forum and let us know more about it and eventually how you fared. The papers I found do suggest the treatment should be used as an adjuvant to other treatments including RT. One of the self treatment methods people use, including myself, is soaks in very hot water usually with something added, so maybe it does help symptoms.
