Re: Photo and question

Another picture. See how the middle finger is being pulled sideways over the ring finger? Now I can make my middle finger pull more to the left and if I'm doing something with that hand, like typing, I can make it a bit straighter. But when my hand is relaxed, that middle finger pulls over. That is a relatively new development as well. Is that common? Is that the mess of cords in my hand affecting the position of my fingers? Sigh

Re: Photo and question

Dawn,

My ring finger was distorted and pulled to the side, but not quite as much as yours. I had NA a month ago which was very successful and the distortion is all but gone. This NA in one hand and RT in the other has really minimized my DC, at least for now.

Re: Photo and question

Little finger on my right hand has pulled across over my ring finger over the past 3 months. Seems to be caused by a growth down one side of the finger causing it to distort. I have had this problem before but haven't had it happen with middle fingers yet.

Re: Photo and question

Okay, so it's not uncommon to have fingers pulled sideways. That's good to know. There is so little information on this disease that it's hard to know what to common or what other people experience compared to my own experience. And you just don't run to the doctor every time you have a question. So I really appreciate all the information and advice that is shared here. :)

This afternoon I went to pick up my bearded dragon and my left hand brushed against my right hand. I found two HUGE nodule that I've not been aware of before. They are in an odd place. Check it out.

They are sticking out so far from my hand they seem like knuckles. Isn't that an odd place to have nodules? At this rate my entire right hand is going to be a mess in no time. Wow.

Re: Photo and question

Also nothing unusual about the nodules. Attached is a photograph of my hand where you can see similar lumps (Perhaps a bit more advanced). These have all formed in the past 3-6 months.

Re: Photo and question

Dawn, that sounds like a natatory cord pulling the fingers together.

- Pathology:
- natatory ligament is commonly involved in Dupuytren's contracture;
- contracture of ligament prevents separation of fingers & contributes to contracture at the PIP Joint and web space contracture;
- ligament also exists in web space of thumb & terminates at proximal crease of the thumb;
- can limit abduction & extension of thumb

Ah, that is very similar. If I turn my hand at the right angle, mine are more evident like yours. Just hard to hold my right hand just right and take a picture with my left hand. But, yes, they are very similar.

That's interesting. I've not read about that before. It does sound like my hand.

My mom has had DD for years. Each of her thumbs pulls in toward the palm, not at the PIP joint but at the base of the thumb. That sounds like it might be a natatory cord as well.
