Finger Spread

One of my big problems with DC is my inability to spread my fingers apart. My ring and middle finger are practically fused together, and sometimes I just pull them apart enough to just expose the skin between to air. Just typing this, and worse yet, using my apple mouse is very difficult. I have a tiny little mini laptop mouse that I've been using, but I left it in my office, as I carry it back and forth from work. Anyway, is this problem a typical contracture issue? And, if so, will the Xiaflex fix it? It's a good thing I'm not a piano player, that's for sure. I don't remember this being an issue before my left hand was operated on 14 years ago. It truly sucks. Thanks for letting me vent..... ~Diane

Re: Finger Spread

Hi Diane

You're not alone! The span between my thumb (where my DD is at it's worst) and forefinger on my left hand has definitely
reduced compared to my right hand! The same between my ring finger where it's starting to contract and
my little finger! Doing a lot of typing and writing is never fun! Although I wear cycling gloves for driving to stop my thumb spreading too far as it can be painful! Can't help you with the Xiaflex question but wish you luck!

All the best!
Anna

Re: Finger Spread

My RH hand ring finger is drifting into my middle finger. I notice it most when I'm scrolling on my laptop. It's starting to get annoying. I hope the Xiaflex works to fix yours. I have read that this problem has been fixed but I can't remember if it was open surgery or NA. Good luck on Monday!!!
