What did those docters do???

Hello,

I'm a 21years old man from Belgium, and from today i know for sure i've got DC.
I've read a lot of things on internet, including all the information on the website were this forum is from. Now i think, no, i know and i can conclude that my doctors were wrong ... and it's fecking frustrating ...! I tell you my short story:

I had a cyst in my hand. A small cyst under my middel finger. I could move my hand perfect, there were no troubles at all.

I go to my home doctor and he says: 'it'is a cyst, but i don't know what' He sends me to an orthopedist. The orthopedist feels on the cyst and on my hand. He says 'it's probably Depuytre, but we can only know it for sure when we operate your hand an do research'. I really want to know that i have the disease so we plan an operation. But at home i read things on the internet (sadly enough not enough). I start to think that it might not be a good choice to operate my hand, so i call to my home-doctor to talk about it. He says 'no problem, just let you operate, and than you know you've got the disease or not.' So i let it operate. After 14 days (!) (today) i knew finally that it i have Dupuytre.

On this website i read the next thing: 'There is some indication that damage to the hand can trigger Dupuytren's disease. surgery can be viewed as a sort of damage, ...'

And if you see the tabel (with the N,VI,I, ..) than i can conclude that in my case surgery was no option at all!!!

So why do the doctors this? Money? It's going bad with this world if doctors already going to act like this!

.. i learned my lesson

comment?

Maybe not a comment but an idea: if you are afraid that your surgery will activate more Dupuytren you might familiarize your doctor with the NAC / ACC research that we now describe on dupuytren-online.info under "Other therapies". That might be an option to suppress further growth of Dupuytren tissue. So far this has been tried mostly after surgery and the gues testing it claim it works.

by the way: from what you write I would guess that your MDs did not want to create more business but just thought they are doing the right thing ...

thanks al lot for the information Wolfgang! I really appreciate this

Maybe you are right about the doctors ... i just had a very bad time, and the main problem with them was that there was almost no communication ... while it was about one of my most important body parts ... But now i try to make the best of it and i hope it the best for me and everybody else who has the disease.

I'm going to talk with a specialist and then maybe do that therapy
