Stefan_K.:
Hi Guitareth. Thanks for the detailed description. I wonder if Dr. Manet has picked up my splinting solution which I described in this forum and to her colleague at Lariboisière hospital who had not told me about splinting when he performed successful NA on my pinky there in 2014.

Has the splinting managed to straighten your pinky further and do you continue to wear the splint glove? Or are you keen on another trip to Paris in a few years? :-)

[56, Dupuytren diagnosis 2006, RH contracture and PNF/NA 2014, radiotherapy RH 2015, LH 2017 & 2018, night splint glove RH since 2015]

Dr Manet's instructions to me were to just wear the splints while sleeping for 3 weeks only after the NA treatment, which is what I did. Presumably she thinks it's only effective or necessary for that short period after NA treatement. To be honest I didn't notice any difference in my fingers after the 3 weeks of splinting - but perhaps it's cos 3 weeks is not long enough - as I assume you are suggesting. I might try wearing them again at night.

Well, there is no scientifically solid evidence yet, but based on positive reports in this forum I started wearing my self-made splint glove when my pinky started to contract again a few months after NA in 2015 and it has clearly worked for me. As I said, my doctor had not mentioned splinting at all and this was my own initiative (since it is my hand and not his) and it doesn't bother me. So I thought in case your pinky is not straight yet or the cords reform on the other fingers and start pulling again, you may want to try what it does for you. I want to link to my account of my experience but the site's search feature isn't working for me at the moment. The idea is that keeping the fingers straight at night rather than letting them form a fist delays or prevents the shortening or the action of the cord. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything but delaying recurrence and repeat NA treatment is not something that would necessarily motivate doctors to encourage it, in the absence of scientific proof.

I think this is the thread about Stefan K’s splint and experience. https://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_...int-0_2023.html

I revisited Dr Manet in November 2018 for a repeat NA procedure on same three fingers as before. I have posted a full detailed description in a new thread at https://www.dupuytren-online.info/Forum_...1657022254.html
