I had surgery a little over 8 weeks ago, I have been going to therapy for 3 weeks now and the scar tissue is diminishing but not gone. My therapist made me a night splint on my first visit but said she would give me a latex pad once it was completely healed and not open anymore. She said the latex pad should be worn under the splint at night and that it breaks up the scar tissue. While I do my exercises and massage the scar tissue everyday there are still areas of scar tissue that I am hoping and praying won't turn into Dupuytren nodules. Has anybody else heard of the latex pad? Last time she did a full hour of ultrasound and it seemed to break up the tissue a lot and since then I have used the latex pad along with my splint.

I don't know what I was thinking it is silicone not latex. Thank you.

GailSusan - I am 6 1/2 weeks past surgery and have quite lumpy scars in my palm and pinkie too, but have had them from the beginning. I am wearing a silicone strip under a splint at night and have some silicone gel that I put on, and during the day my hand therapist suggested using a strip of micropore placed tightly around the scar area to the back of my hand.

None of this makes any difference so far, but I will mention the ultrasound and hope it works for you.

I know from past experience that I seem to form lumpy scar tissue. My long scar from an abdominal hysterectomy in 2011 was lumpy for several years! but is now flat. Perhaps my hand scars will be the same! However, with our hands the scar tissue certainly hinders movement.
