Looking for Good DD Doctor in Virginia

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've been on this forum! It's good to be back.

I am looking for a doctor in VA for general DD consults (such as writing prescriptions for splints) and, in particular, one who is experienced with and good at NA. It's been 6 years since my last NA procedure and it may be time for anonther one soon.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated! Names in North Carolina and Georgia would also be helpful. And, my apologies if this question has been answered. I tried to search on "NA" but the search engine requires a minimum of three characters, and the other keywords I tried did not turn up much.

Hi Maddie
On our list https://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_list_North_America.html we have a couple listed in the Carolina’s and one in Georgia. I will do some searches for VA and update if I have some success.
Best wishes SB

A Dr Yusuf Kahn in Ashburn Va came back in one search, successful Xiaflex treatment, you would have to enquire about NA.

May I suggest you take the drive to New Jersey and see Dr. Pess. To be treated by someone with his knowledge in this field in my opinion is worth the effort. I recently drove ten hours total to see Dr. Pess, and I plan on doing it agian in a couple of months. Good luck

Thanks for your response! I looked up the doctor in Atlanta, Kay Kirkpatrick, as I spend a lot of time there. Unfortunately it appears she has retired from medical practice (she went into politics!) So you may wish to take her off the list.

I will check out the NC docs you list. I really would like to find a good doc in VA, though - it is a big state so we should have someone. A google search turns up several docs in Northern VA and Richmond who say they do NA, but I'd love to get a personal recommendation too, if anyone has personal experience with VA docs.

In response to Brian:

I have had NA from Dr Pess with excellent results, and would consider making the drive up there again if I need another procedure. But I also want to find a good DD doc in VA, to use at a minimum for splint prescriptions. Also, NA has been in this country for quite a while now, and I was hoping at this point that we are starting to get enough highly skilled docs that we don't always need to make long trips to see them. Dr. Pess is 7 hours each way for me so it is quite a jaunt.

Thanks again to you both!

Maddie

Re: Looking for Good DD Doctor in Virginia

Hi Maddie I am also interested in anything you find in Virginia (Preferably near Lynchburg haha)! I am 28 and recently diagnosed with DD. I have a cord but no contracture yet. Do you have any experience with anyone in these areas with NA or RT? Or any recommendations for someone to see or not to see. Thanks!
Greg

There are some radiologists in Virginia who have treated DD listed here https://dupuytrens.club/click-here-1.

Dr Yusuf Kahn in Ashburn gets mentioned on the FB groups using Xiaflex; no mention of NA.

Re: Looking for Good DD Doctor in Virginia

One of the doctors on the list of radiologists is Dr Bajaj in Fairfax. I was not treated by him for DD, but I had a consult with him on another issue and liked him very much. Plus, I was impressed that his bio says:

"He is also actively involved in research and care of patients with Dupuytren’s and Ledderhose diseases."

You don't see that very often!

See his full bio at: https://www.virginiaradiation.com/falls-...pal-k-bajaj-md/

As far as hand surgeons go: I had to put my search on pause because I've been caught up in other things. But if I learn something I will post it here.

BTW, I had radiation soon after my diagnosis, pre-contracture, and was very glad I did. It didn't completely prevent contracture for me, but I had very aggressive disease, and I feel certain it slowed it down considerably. So far I've been able to get away with two NA procedures, though I am probably due for a few more soon.
