Dupuytrens, osteoarthritis and glucosamine
Hi all,
I welcome discussion and advice. I have had mild dupuytrens for 15 years and mild ledderhose for about 8 years. I had RT around 2012 on my hands and have had very little progression. My nodules in my feet have progressed recently.
Now for my question, I recently was told that my knees are bone on bone for at least 4 of the 8 bones. I had avoided glucosamine because of the potential to advance or accelerate dupuytrens or ledderhose. However as I now have pain in one knee daily I am thinking of starting to take glucosamine to try and stave off knee replacement for a couple more years.
What are people experiences with glucosimne? Is there a type that has less affect on dupuyterns?
Thanks in advance, Mike

Re: Dupuytrens, osteoarthritis and glucosamine
Hi Mike,
it is not sure that glucosamine does any damage to patients with Dupuytren's. It's more on the "maybe, maybe not" level. I would just give it a try and see whether it helps your joints, while observing your Dupuytren's as well. Most of the patients wih Dupuytren's are older and have joint problems as well, including myself. We feel with you!
