Vive La France
name@domain.deI recently sought treatment for a contracture on my ring finger, right hand, that was at apporximately 30 degrees out of vertical. An alleged specialist in Australia wanted to perform surgery with considerable follow up therapy. His own costs (pre-paid) ran into thousands and he required an assistant surgeon together with the usual staff support. All in all the costs were likely to be of the order of $5000, possibly more. I asked the 'specialist' about the neeedle treatment and he assumed that I was referring to injections. I came away unimpressed.
Subsequently I contacted a French doctor via the internet. She studied the photographs I emailed and I incorporated a visit to her rooms while on holiday in France. We spent about 45 minutes together durng which time she severed the cord and bandaged the wound. When I queried cost she became almost embarrassed and mentioned a trivial sum. Two weeks later the bandages were off and normal movement restored without any need for therapy.
What a contrast in both attitude and treatment. One has to wonder whether specialists in Australia (and I could not find any who offered the French method) are uninformed or simply prefer an alternative for which large sums of money may be charged.
I do not feel at liberty to give the French doctor's name as I fear she may be inundated and I do not have her permisson. However, my advice to fellow sufferers is "Vive La France" and "Bonne chance".

Re: Vive La France
In the UK NA should surely be the first option as it's got to be better for the patient and more cost effective for the NHS than OS. However, consultants only seem keen on surgery and never mention radiotherapy or NA as other treatments. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has guidance on it's website http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/index.js...ownload&o=31124 but there are only 5 possible UK NA doctors listed on the Dupuytren Society website.

Re: Vive La France
Hi John, it's great that you were so well treated and successfully as well! Congratulation! Just a minor correction: in the mean time NA became available in Australia as well, see http://www.dupuytren-online.info/NA_list..._countries.html . Only one clinic so far but a start.
