Dupytrens in the knuckle

I have had two NA treatments over the last year on my right hand little finger. On both occasions the finger was straightened to about 15 degrees. In both cases it was not possible to get it completely straight because it seems that the Dupytrens is actually in the knuckle itself. NA cannot help with this. Is my only option surgery?

Re: Dupytrens in the knuckle

The pinkie is the hardest to straighten successfully, even with surgery, especially if it’s been a while since it has been straight, and if there are difficulties cleaning out diseased tissue from nerves and other structures. There can be irreversible changes in the joint, capsule, ligaments, and tendons, and the increased risk of a recurrence flare from complex surgery. You will probably need extensive physio. You are really best discussing your specific options with two or three highly experienced surgeons, and hopefully they are less pessimistic.

Thanks for response. Sounds like might be best just living with the 15 degree bend. At least it’s better than the 90 degrees before the NA.

Re: Dupytrens in the knuckle

I had duoytrens in my knuckles before it attaches my palm and finger. It’s now gone. It just went away. My dr at Stanford told me that it could happen and it did.

Hope you experience the same.
