Re: Stage 4 - advice

I couldn't fit RT into my personal schedule until 3+ months after NA. Even so, NA followed by RT worked for me. I would recommend RT sooner rather than later after NA. Now I know about RT, so if my left hand becomes active with Dups, I plan to have RT early enough and avoid having NA at all.

Re: Stage 4 - advice - follow up

Last week Dr. Keith Denkler performed Needle Aponevrotomy on my left hand. I was petrified about having this procedure, but Dr. Denkler was incredible. The procedure was astonishingly efficient and painless. Post procedure I had more pain than I anticipated, but now a week later the pain has subsided and I began physical therapy.

The photos below are my before image and 5 days after prodecure.

Thank you Wolfgang and everyone who gave their advice!

I can highly recommend Dr. Denkler for this procedure.

Considering you were at stage 4, the correction is amazing, hopefully with physical therapy the finger will improve some more... My only advice (from personal experience) is that if you get a custom made brace for the finger from the therapist, wear it for a long, long time. I only wore my night brace for 3 months post NA, and the contracture returned. I believe it would have lasted longer had I not stopped wearing the brace.

Three years later, I'm having the NA re-done. Good luck to you.
