GUESS I'M ONE OF THE VERY LUCKY ONES.....HAD LITTLE FINGER PIP BENT 95 DEGREES...FOR YEARS. ONE YEAR AGO DOC EATON DID NA
FINGER STILL PERFECT.....STILL WEAR NIGHT SPLINT JUST FOR INSURANCE .

Yes, you were lucky....and smart to keep wearing the night brace....I think that is one mistake I made...after Dr. Denkler corrected my pinky PIP joint that was at 90 degrees in July 2006 I only wore the night brace three months...within a year, the contracture returned to 90 degrees...I'm having the NA re-done in March by Dr. Eaton and this time plan to wear the brace for a very long time (hope I'm luckier the second time around).

I had a similar experience. I had a 95 degree PIP release done by Dr. Denkler in Nov 06. Not perfect...measured at 15-25 degrees...but pretty darned good. I am still wearing a loose fitting night brace (most nights) and would like to think that doing so is, and has been, beneficial.

Welcome to the Bent Pinky Club. Mine is also frozen at 45 or worse, following surgery. There does not seem to be a solution for this at present.

Thanks - I wondered that, too. But CHS who did first OS said I have "scarring diathesis" contributing to flare reaction which presents 3-4 weeks post-op. Seems this is very vulnerable period for flare - esp for PIP's, and it stopped my original post-op therapy in its tracks, sending the pip on an curl that defeated even the night splint. He, and the micro-surgeon Dr. Denkler referred me to recently thinks that medieval "widget" device would get me over the "hump" until the flare reaction recedes, but yeah, night splint likely forever afterwords regardless.
I'm still undecided - maybe just live with it until its either forced OS or amputation becomes necessary, I guess. My guitar playing is forever compromised at this point anyhow
The widget really is pimped as the "answer" to those pesky PIP issues - I dunno, like I say compliance seems challenging even tho it can be popped-off when needed. Still has those pins in the bone for the duration regardless. Sad thing is all other joints are good and flexion is very strong even in that PIP.
