Re: DC after surgery and rsd

I had a 90-95 degree small finger PIP release procedure performed by Dr. Denkler in November of 2006. Since the contracture had slowly progressed over a 5-10 year period, the release was not quite 100% complete but HIGHLY successful by my own reckoning (~ 15 degrees). I was, and remain ecstatic as to both the results and the overall "treatment" received from Dr. Denkler's office. I have chosen to continue to wear a loose-fitting night splint. So far so good with no readily appreciable increase in contracture, despite the development of new nodules (and possibly cords). I did have a new splint custom built by my hand therapist's office but it literally broke in half after around six months so I am using an older one right now until I get around to having another one built. `

This proves again how different the disease is from person to person... my contracture was less severe (about 45-50 degrees), same finger, also PIP, same great doctor and also done in 2006....but my NA only lasted six months...some of it could have been my own fault for not wearing the night brace longer than four months...

Good for you Mike for wearing the brace after three years...hope you have continued long lasting success....

P.S. I'm having the same finger re-done in March...by Dr. Eaton.

Re: DC after surgery and rsd

Has anyone experienced any positive solutions for RSD as a consequence of DC surgery?
