    Sheppardjnv:
My wife has Dupuytren's contracture in her hands and feet.

She saw a Consultant at the hospital today about her feet and was told that they no longer operate as this could make matters worse.

She was advised that the nodules will grow and walking will become difficult and more painful and that all she can do is exercise her feet by stretching and use pan relief gel for the pain.

Is this all that medical science, in this day and age, can offer?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Certainly radiotherapy can offer very good results in all stages of the disease, even after previously not succesful surgery

25 patients with Ledderhose's disease were treated with radiotherapy and followed up for 1 - 5 years afterwards. About 80 percent of the patients reported improvements, while the rest reported stable conditions. None of the patients had to undergo surgery. - Michael Heinrich Seegenschmiedt and Mared Attassi "Radiation therapy for Morbus Ledderhose - indication and clinical results" Strahlentherapie und Onkologie 179, Number 12 (2003), p 847 - 853. Results: "After a median follow-up of 22.5 months, none of the patients experienced a progression of number and size of the lesions or the clinical symptoms. In eleven sites (33.3%) complete remission of cords or nodules occurred, in 18 (54.5%) a reduced number or size was noted, and four sites (12.1%) were unchanged. Pain relief was achieved in 13/19 patients (68.4%)".

You need to find an experienced physician ...

      Hi,

      A while ago I reported a positive-isch result using duct-tape.
I am sorry to say that the softening of the nodules that I noticed was beause the skin around the nodules was a bit swolen. I think the swelling is the result of an alergic skin reaction to the glue in the duct-tape.

So, although duct tape has a positive effect on warts it does not seem to have any effect on Dupuytren...
      :-(

In the mean whil I am waiting for my "maggi plant" to grow big enough to harvest the root. I did a short test (approx 4 days) appliing some crushed maggi-plant-leaves on the nodules, but that did not seem to work.

If anyone has had positive or negative effects using "home brew" solutions, please let me know !

Re: Dupuytren's therapy that works without pain

While at hip Dr for bad pain and trouble walking, he told me the hand bumps and pain were from
Dupuytrens (was kind enough to write it out and all the hip problem names as well).
Am wondering how HWolf is doing with his treatment of Ligusticum root. Have seen an extract at the
health food store. Not sure which to try first. Also read about horse liniment with vite E.
I had this about 6 yrs, had thought was ganglias , but so painful to open door...
When was trying to heal frozen shoulder and all the other things they said related (bursitis, tendonitis).
Decided to wear gloves when use the comnputer as so very cold fingers . Well, 90% of pain is gone, if keep using gloves.
Not sure if related to EMF or what. Fingers still cold but is so nice to have reduced pain. Then went on very slowly lowering oxalates am eating (people can make them also), as had been eating Lots of almonds butter,beets...
It has helped somewhat , mostly with joint and urinary issues and the ganglia on wrist left.
Interesting about possible relationtion to way of dealing with blood glucose and testing. Also has anyone done dna testing or the one at 23andme.com?
        Thanks

Re: Dupuytren's therapy that works without pain

          Hi Lea,

if a patient reports that a specific novel treatment helped it does not necessarily mean that it will help another patient as well. The reported improvement might have had other reasons. Vitamine E or roots probably won't help much. Of course, it's always worth a try but there is not much evidence that these treatment generally help with Dupuytren's or Ledderhose. You might have a look at our website http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytr..._therapies.html and http://www.dupuytren-online.info/ledderhose_therapies.html where we are describing treatment options that have been proven to be effective. If they are still being researched it is indicated.

          Wolfgang
