RT Treatment Near Tampa Fl.

Thought readers might like to know that Dr. Hochman @ the Florida Cancer Center in New Port Richey Fl is in fact willing to treat DC and Ledderhose. He is listed on this Forum now. I have just finished my first 5 day treatment and will be back in Nov for the final 5 days. No complaints so far. My left hand has had DC for years without any pain of contracting. My right hand recently became affected and was very painful as well as obviously progressing quickly. The treatment was painless, however the 3-4 days after treatment my right hand was really hurting. In fact both hands felt like I had been to a concert and clapped for the entire performance. Hot & stinging in the are of treatment, and the right hand aching again. This has stopped now and I can see some slow improvement in flexibility. Use seems to create stiffiness, like typing this message. I am hopeful that at the very least, my condition will not progree further after the treatments are completed.
The staff at the Fl Cancer Center is top notch. My BCBS insurance would not agree to pay for the treatment in advance, so I am planing to take them to task on appeal after the first denial after billing. Dr. Hochman is working with me through this process.
I have plans to have my feet treated just as soon as I can assess the outcome of my hand treatments. Have been in foot pain for over 25 years. It would be life changing to have the nodule discomfort gone.

Re: RT Treatment Near Tampa Fl.

Good story. My hand has been quite sore and stiff since radiotherapy in June, so the after effects may last a while. It is slowly but surely easing though. I still have full flexibility on the piano though, which is - ahem - key for me, and you too I expect. Best wishes for a good outcome.

Regarding spanishbuddah's response: I have also discovered quite by accident that rubbing DermaMag topical magnesium on my hands is making them more flexible and less stiff. I discovered this when applying the Derma Mag product to other areas for other reasons. Obviously it get on my hands in the process. This is a new finding but after 4 days, I am still feeling the benefit. Will keep posting on long term results. Hope this helps someone who needs to stay "keyed in".

Re: RT Treatment Near Tampa Fl.

I was recently diagnosed with Dupuytrens, couple of nodules and cords but no contracture yet. I am located in the Tampa Bay area and was wondering how well you did with the radiotherapy, since it has been over 3 years since you received the therapy. I understand that the treatment is most effective when it is done during early stages.

Re: RT Treatment Near Tampa Fl.

I have no complaints with the treatment I received. I am a pianist and my hands are doing just fine. I did have my feet treated and the nodules that were treated have remained stable. I have however, seen additional nodules appear and they are painful. I am considering a second treatment for the new growths. I have however moved to NC and I am not near to Dr. Hochman or anyone else to do the treatment at this time. Not sure exactly what I will do! Best luck to you! If I can answer any questions, feel free to ask!

Regards,

Roger Cousins

Roger, Dr. Crimaldi in Charlotte is highly recommended for RT. Might be an option.
