Itching
Jerry, you are so right about avoiding those items. Glucosamine/Chondroitin is, I believe, what accelerated my contractures. I don't have all the answers. I can only speak from personal experience. |

Itching
Just to add to the information, when I was taking the supplement Glucosamine, my hands developed several lumps and a cord. During this time, there was constant itching. |

itching/ ?~sq~s
I have dc in my right hand. The nodule is below my pinky finger on the palm. I was diagnosed with this last spring, when i noticed the bump. It was very painful and the doctors thought it was a cyst. I had surgery and found out that it was DC. Im in my mid twenties and work as an electrician. I still have pain in my hand, with an even larger nodule than before. In the last couple of weeks i hurt this hand by cutting some pipe. The pain is gone now, but i have what i would say a swollen area below my thumb in the palm area. It also itches every now and then. I wonder if this area is going to be dc related as well? I use vaseline intensive care lotion for dry hands. I read a post that this may not be the safest lotion to use. Does anyone have a recomendation for a lotion to use for dry hands? Also, what is DMSO treatment? |

Dupuytren/Tamoxifen/Shoulder Pain Link
Having read the previous post, I am thinking that my shoulder pain started about the time 6-7 years ago when I entered a clinical trial for prevention of breast cancer for high risk women. As I entered late in the trials, the code was broken when it appeared tamoxifen helped prevent breast cancer. I was supplied with the tamoxifen for 5 years. It was about the same time that my shoulder was starting to hurt that a nodule was starting on my left middle finger, which I had surgery on last year. I never connected the two symptons! The finger healed beautifully from the traditional surgery but the shoulder froze and after therapy and exercise it still hurts. |

Breast Cancer and DC
Hello Elisabeth. I was quite struck by your post. A few weeks ago under a different topic, I posted a note regarding my bouts with breast cancer and melanoma of the thumb and the onset of DC! I am not taking Tamoxifen, however, since a recent re-diagnosis of breast cancer, this time LCIS, I have been taking FEMARA. My understanding is that Femara is similar to Tamox in that they are both aromase inhibitors. I started Femara last February (or March), and this past summer developed an "itchy" palm, and the contracture (and pain) of my middle finger. I read the article you posted ..... and I wonder if there IS INDEED A LINK. |
