Answer
Itching Left Palm and Glucosamine

Hello:

I am very happy I found this page. I was looking for what could be causing my left palm to be itching so badly, then I saw your comments on Glucosamine. I have been taking Glucosamine for the past few weeks for my knee and the soft part of my left palm near the wrist has been itching since this weekend. So, should I really stop taking glucosamine? What about the problems with my knees? Any suggestions as to why the Glucosamine could be causing this? Is it some interaction with other food or chemicals? Is there a substitute supplment or vitamin that I could take for my knees instead of glucosamine. I would appreciate any advise.

Answer
take it or not

Hi Tiffany,

the best way to find out is probably to stop taking it for a couple of weeks and see whether the itching is getting any better. Some people have this effect, some don't. Glucosamine is meant to foster the growth of collagen and thus improve the operation of your joints. Unfortunately Dupuytren nodules also consist of collagen and it might happen that their growth is fostered, too.
