Dumb question
First before I ask this dumb question, let me assure you that I'm in no way, no shape, no form planning on doing this. I was just joking with some of my buddies about this and I got curious. |

The Volleyball Cure for DD
I was carrying a heavy suitcase through the airport recently and felt a pop and a burning sensation in my palm. When I looked at my right hand, I noticed that my ring finger, which was about 45deg contracted, was now perfectly straight! The next day, the base of my thumb was black and blue but not sore. My pinkie is still over 90deg contracted and awaits NA by Dr.Eaton. Maybe if I went out and tried to throw a shotput or something.... hmmmm |

Doing it yourself
Dear old dad told me the following story rather sheepishly..... one night after a more then a few...he decided he was going to fix the problem himself with a *hammer*. He says it doesn't work. Marks are left in the dining room table, the wife gets angry, yells a bunch of unpleasant things, takes away your substance, then sends you to bed. Oh....and apparently it hurts like the dickens yet doesn't improve the fingers at all - no matter how hard you swing. |

Breaking the bands of elastic tissue
When Dr. Eaton di my fingers, he used a small beedle to cut through the bands and then put pressure on the hand to extend the fingers. The tissue band sbroke and relesed the contraction. |

Dumb question, but
I am so glad someone asked this question. I have repeatedly told my regular hand surgeon (who won't do NA) that I had DC on my left hand. But, because of a hip problem, I fall frequently--forward--landing palms down on the floor, or other hard surface. Pop went the Dups. and gone. (Burned like the dickens at the time) Wish I could say the same for the right hand. Apparently the DC got a stronger hold, and/or I did not fall soon enough. When I actually did fall agian, in February of this year, the bands on the tendon did not snap and I developed 2 new nodules (practially overnight) on the middle joint of my finger. So, I am opting for NA. If I fall before the Wednesday procedure I'll let you know if I was able to cancel the surgery. Doubtful. And I really don't like falling anyway!! |
