Are knuckle pads a precursor to DD?

I've got those knuckle pads. Did any of you sufferers have them before developing DD?

Timing of Knuckle Pads

In my own case, the first "knucle pad" surfaced a few months prior, and on the opposite hand, from where DD is currently active.

Yes - knuckle pads appeared first

Knuckle pads appeared about 4 years prior to anything else happening. My doctor tells me that people who have knuckle pads usually have (or will develop) dupuytren's in at least two spots - with me it is both feet and now the first sign at the base of my little finger.

Thanks folks for responding. I can't say it's the news I wanted to hear, but forewarned is fore-armed!

Non-Surgical Cure ?

Hope you can help!

I’m new to the Dupuytren's Forum, but not to Dupuytren's that showed up about 10 years ago. Had surgery on my left hand 2 years ago but Dupuytren's is now back in the L hand worse than ever. So I know from experience surgery is only a stopgap.

I know about the French Needle so I am very interested in info about non-surgical cures. Question:

1) Are there any legit non-surgical cures? Who and where?
2) Is the SUNY Stony Brook cure near going public? Any info on the status?
3) Are there any doctors (or anyone else) doing injections? Who and where?

Please help with any info you have. I don’t want any more surgery!

Thanks.

Knuckle pads/d c

I just today found this forum. Diagnosed with dc in right hand ring finger about a year ago - has started to contract slightly. Have had a knuckle pad on same hand for about a year also - did not the two were related until this forum. My doctor tells me that no one will do surgery or anything until it worsens. I am discouraged after reading all the messages, however I have appointments with a general surgeon and a plastic surgeon this week but would love to find a better alternative. I am a 49 yr old female and my 57 year old brother has a severe contracture of his right little finger - didn't know what it was until I began research after my diagnosis.
Any new information would be appreciated.

Knuckle Pads

I am a 43 year old female and have had a lump on my middle finger knuckle right-hand for over seven months, I visited my GP twice and was told it was nothing. However, it can become very tender and I am convinced it is growing slowly. I have visited an orthopaedic surgeon this morning who instantly stated it was a Knuckle Pad and could be the start of Dupuytrens Disease, he wants to remove the lump under local anastheatic and send for byopsy - I told him I would think about it whilst I found more about this disease. Has anybody had a knuckle pad removed or left alone? Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Debbie

Knucle pads

i have these for about ten years. They have gotten progressively worse. At this time they are resticting my range of motion and I can't do the things I used to. I had surgery on the left hand middle finger. Basically it was not very successful. Although the pad was removed it resulted in loss of range in motion and the pad is reappearing only 5 year later.

knuckle pads

My knuckle pad on my right pinkie was the Dupuytren's scar tissue wrapping around the pinkie.

I developed the classical pit and nodules of D.C. in my right hand's palm area in 1992 4 months after a mugging (purse yanked out violently).

In 1997, the first knuckle pads came on my left hand. The nodule in the back of the left ring finger was growing very quickly. The left middle finger nodule was almost non existant. After one look from both hand surgeons, it was determined that those nodules were not D.C. related to my right palm. They were giant tendon tumors. I had that tumor surgery removal in 1997.

Giant tendon tumors cannot be related to Dupuytren's contracture. My tumors did not return on my left hand ever again.

"So, what," you say? Giant tendon tumors are not related to D.C. (I had D.C. surgery later after the giant tumor surgery when I was 39.) Both my hand surgeons agreed of diagnosis of all of my hand "stuff."

When I bump my pinky it really hurts. It is my knuckle that brings on the pain. My knuckles are sore on my other fingers too. This DD is a bitch!!
