NA in Toronto, October 10, 2006

Paul Binhammer, is the only doctor I have been able to trace in Canada, Hecsays that he is the only doctor practising NA in Canada now. He can be reached @p.binhammer@utoronto.ca. I emailed him, he emailed me the next morning, I got back to him and he replied to all my questions the next day. I am organizing the protocols so that I can go "EAST", have a consultation, and the NA. I am very impressed with his promptness and his knowledge!

For the rest of us Canadians out west, please post and let us know how this goes for you. I've just had an appointment set up to see a plastc surgeon, and need to be ready to plead my case for NA as a first treatment.

NA in Toronto, October 10, 2006

I live in northern BC. I am just back from NA procedure at Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. I flew there and back, stayed a week with friends but had the procedure done on the second last day I was there, and flew home the very next day with my splint on my hand.
The procedure was done by Dr. Paul Binhammer and although the anesthetic needles pinched a bit, some more than others, the procedure was relatively painless, once the hand was frozen. I have before and after pictures for those of you who are interested, I can email them to you. I have only one hand that is affected by DC, and two fingers that were bent to over 30 degrees.
Don't bother going to see Dr. Binhammer if you are just early stage. He likes to see at least 30 degrees of curvature in the fingers, or else there is no marked difference in "snapping" the elastic cord at all.
My BC medical covered the procedure which is way cheaper than open hand surgery! And the flight will be a tax write-off for me, a benefit of living in a small northern town such as this.
And I did see a surgeon in Edmonton Alberta in March 2005. I had my name put on a waiting list to have my hand done with the open hand surgery method. The surgeon said it would be about a year of waiting. Well the day after I got back from Toronto, his booking nurse phoned me to say that my name had finally come up. So that ws a nineteen month wait. So I declined and thanked her very much!
One week after NA in Toronto, I am back at home, typing easily and grooming dogs in my home business. It's wonderful!
