knuckle pad

I keep reading about these in this forum - just was wondering what they were. I have DC and was operated on and am healing very slowly.

knuckle pads

They are growths under the skin at one or more finger joints, on the NON-palmar side of the hand--on the knuckles.

What about PALMAR-type pads?

I have very thick, hard pads...on the palmar side of my hands. Are these treatable, or does anyone know?

KNUCKLE PAS

I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THIS CONDITION WAS UNTIL RECENTLY, I HAVE TO GO FOR A SKIN BIOPSY. THE DOCTOR IS TALKING ABOUT
SEEING A HAND SURGEON? FROM ALL YOUR MESSAGES I GATHER IT MAY NOT BE TO MY ADVANTAGE. WHAT DO MOST OF YOU RECOMMEND
SURGERY OR OTHER TREATMENTS? WHY HAVE THE SURGERY WHEN THE ODDS ARE NOT GOOD, AND THEY GROW BACH ANYWAY. I HAVE ONE AND I SEE A SECOND ONE GROWING. I AM AFRAID THAT SURGERY CAN CAUSE PERMINANT DAMAGE. SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED.

Grace,
Don't go straight to surgery. There is a lot of info
on the forum and on the internet. Read it all and feel free
to email those who are willing to post their email
addresses. Those are the ones who are willing to help.
Good luck,
Mary Beth and
Richard

Respond Re: Knucke-Pads

sugury should be a last resort. what happens is the finger will start to contract twards the palm and you should get it fixed only after you get enough contracture. otherwise do not awaken a sleeping giant. you do not want to stimulate growth.

Respond Re: Knucke-Pads

To Mary Beth & Richard,

Thank you somuch for responding to my questions. According to my Dermathologist, knuckle-pad and Dupytren disease are too different things. I keep reading about pads in the Palm of the hand, as I mentioned in my first posted message I have one on my index finger top of hand not inside and what appears to be second one growing third finger very small at this time. My question is will this condition turn to Dupytren? I am confused with the relationship. The Doctor said in some cases it goes away on its own? he says he see around three cases a year even in children. I told him at this time I do not want to go ahead with the tissue biopsy, I want to leave well-enough alone. Their is a mention of Trauma, let me share something with you, a few years ago I had knee surgery went well no problems since, however my other knee has began to bother for a few years now, I notice when getting up from a chair or sofa, what ever I would push my self up by putting pressure on the hand that is growing the Knucke Pads I am wondering if that kind of pressure can be considered Truma on the joints. So a week ago I stopped doing that not that its going to change my condition, but does someone out their, have a similar expierence?

Thank you,

Grace

knuckle pad

I have a knuckle pad on my little, bent finger. It hurts most all the time. Would surgery help me? I hate to go to the dr., but I might have to.
