Dupuytrens Sufferers United

Reference: 8-17 by Randy under "Contact Your Congressman"

This is my view. Treatments should begin with the least
invasive precedures. Topicals, diet (No vitamin c's, chon-
droiten, glucosamine), injections (kennalog). Then move on
to collagenase (when approved) or NA (available now). Then
if and when warranted limited fasciotomy, then if warranted
fasciectomy with skin grafts. That would be the approach
Dr's use for most other disease, a bottom-up. Currently
they skip everything and go straight to a fasciectomy, but
fail to use skin grafting most of the time.

Good statement

Richard:

Thanks for posting a rational and thoughtful statement. I am fortunate, in that I have nodules and not contraction... But I concur with your ranking... that's my thinking should I need treatment in the future.

Dupuytren Contracture

I have a doc appt next month for "diagnosis" and recommendation. I am very excited to see the alternatives listed. My little finger is just now beginning to draw and I have several nodules along with prominent sheaths on my right hand and the beginnings started on the left. Thanks for sharing.

Needle Aponeurotomy

It's been three months since my NA in Switzerland and I report all is well. The release in the diferent fingers remain as they were after the procedure.Cramps have stopped in fingers and hand. Some of my contractions come from the healing of the skin. After my previous surgeries I've had alot of contracture from tightening of the skin. I've
found that maintaining an ointment dressing 24/7 for many
months allows the skin to slowly heal from within without
forming a hard outer skin.

Needle Aponeurotomy

For all who are interested, Dr. Charles Eaton in Jupiter, FL has been trained in France to perform NA and is now performing this procedure in the USA.

NA in Florida

It appears that the hopes and prayers of many have materialized in the form of Dr. Eaton. It is my hope that everyone here support his practice to the point that it will florish and NA will be available across America in the near future. If only a few more alternatives come to market(collagenase}we will have real choices!I think thats what really drives all the arguements etc.The lack of real options supported by the Med. establishment.I think when the Docs start to promote alternatives to radical surgery,we all will be able to get along with one another.Everyones opinions/options once supported by actual US practices will require a new tone for this or any DC forum to be legitiment.Dr.Eaton will not be the answer for some seeking NA.He currently lacks the experience to handle some cases, such as mine.I was turned down twice for NA before our wonderfull friend Jerry stepped in with help.I will however seek Dr.Eaton's council on my options as I need all I can get! This forum sponsored by Biospecics has been a Godsend for me.Even though I opted for sugery twice after following the posts on NA,and cost has never been a factor thank God,this forum helped me to realize that we don't have to sit on our hands and do nothing. For whatever it is worth I also had the opportunity to participate in the Stonybrook trials, but did not.I plan to continue the quest to find help.At 49 with two hands and two toes afflicted with this truly dreadfull condition what options do I have?I don't have to debate anyone about DC,NA,surgery or injections,I've had it all!

Cure!!!?

The homeopath at my haalth food store reported today that a guy came in and told him he had obtained a cure for DC by taking liquid, colloidal vitamins & minerals. I'm skeptical, but thought I should pass it along for what it's worth.

HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!
As I SIT HERE IN TEARS FROM THE PAIN OF THESE HORRIBLE LUMPS. I NEED PEOPLE WHO HAS HAD THESE LUMPS REMOVED AND THEY CAN BACK TO E-MAILED ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE.
I have had one removed and another came back . My Dr told me i was not a good candidate for another surgery. I have a pain appointment March 8 to get some relief.
I have filed for disability after 35 yrs. of working, because i can't hardly walk now.I need proof from all over that surgery does not help most of the time. If you have had surgery and they came back .please E-mail me. God be with each and everyone. And if you know of anything that does help the pain ,please let me know that also.
God Be with all!!!!!! Sherry
