Pain

It has been 18 months now! Dr. Eaton released my finger with NA then. Now new nodes and bands are forming. And believe me...THEY HURT! I have more pain in my hands then I ever had before. On the positive side...My fingers are still straight. That is good, anyway.

Me Too

Quicksilver,

Me too. The Dups tissue continues growing in my palm post NA, and whoever started the rumor that Dups rarely has pain was out to lunch. Strangely enough, my formerly unscarred left hand didn't have *any* pain at all prior to OS. And none now, at least not from Dups.

That's one of the major drawbacks to NA. As you know, all it is design to do is release finder contraction. It does so like magic. However, if the Palmer aria is growing, we have to wait until there is palm contraction before cords can be snapped. I believe that will cause some pain relief. (Perhaps an NA patient who has had palm work done can comment on that.)

That's the reason it's quite disappointing that Collagenase is stuck in traffic worse that the LA 405 at rush hour. It would be so great if larger does could safely attack painful arias in the palm. NA is useless. The only other option is the Full Montie OS. Apparently when it works well and the patient has a good reaction to the knife, they are happy with the results. I talked to an older gal who primarily had OS to relieve the pain, which it did, and with no recurrence over 15 years.

pain

I have had DUPs for about 8 or 9 years. it started withcurling of my fingers in both hands and nodules on the tendons in my foot. No pain in the feet but the hands are an everyday pain. I had surgery to relaese one finger on my right hand. But the one next to it began curling as the other healed. I have elected not to go for more surgery, but my hands hurt in the joints most of the time. My fingers feel tight and ache most of the time. But I find that taking tylonol works, so I really dont want more surgery. Especially since it seems like Ill just have to have another operated on after they fix the next on. It seems to be a very slow progression so Ill just put up with it.

Pain & Dupuytren~sq~s

Hey Guys,

I wrote on many occasions that pain is not usually associated with Dupuytren's. The pain is most likely from a combination of other hand ailments.

You may e-mail me for further information.

pain

I have it on good authority that pain is caused by the nerve being trapped around the cord and collagen lumps. Yes, it is painful. Wakes me up at night sometimes.

pain

I had trigger finger operation on this finger two years ago. Then, the big cord showed up in my hand. Diagnosis..Dups. Then, I went several other times to the doctor and said there was somthing else wrong with the tendon. Now, I am at a point where the tendon is so bad that I have a swollen hand, and can hardly bend my finger without terrible pain. Now, I have Dups and the tendon problem as well.
I am starting Physicl Therapy tomorrow to try to get this tendon settled down.
Can't tell me now, that injury, or trauma does not bring all of this on. This is very painful.

Pain

I want to say that if you don't have pain with DC, don't think that it can't be there. I have been recently diagnosed and have the classic nodule on my palm. It hurts! Not terribly but enough to remind me that it is there. I realize this is an old post but just wanted to let you know that I know what you feel if you have pain with DC.
