There may be a Doctor in Montreal. She was trained by Dr. Badois, from Paris, who is, by all accounts, very very good. She was having some problems with the local surgeons. I'm not sure where it stands right now, hopefully she is getting or has the clearance to perform the NA, as I would see her. I have added some info concerning her. Any one with info on this Dr. and whether she is allowed to perform NA, please respond.

Dr. Helena Spacek at Notre-Dame Hospital in Montreal. She has obtained approval of payment for aponevrotomy from the Québec Health Insurance system. However, so far the medical establishmnet, i.e. the plastic surgeons who have, so it seems, a monopoly on this intervention, refuse to relinquish their trade. Dr. Spacek thinks that she will have overcome their objections in the early part of fall this year. Dr. Lermusiaux told me that she is very skillfull at performing the needle aponevrotomy. I don't understand why Montreal is the supposed Promised Land. This procedure is readily available in France- NOW. Fact is you have to go somewhere, so what difference does it make whether you go to Paris or Montreal. The cost is probably not much different - and anyway, what is a few dollars when it comes to your hands. So why sit on them and wait- for something that may never happen in Canada or the USA.

You must be joking. I live in Minneapolis - I've been to Paris and the trip includes 16 brutal hours mashed into a coach seat, followed by extreme jet lag. I don't speak French so there's also the issue of navigating to an address some distance from the heart of the city.

I'll go to Paris again if I have to but I would be DELIGHTED if I could get NA in Montreal.

I hit the post by mistake. Again, I echo the sentiments of others. Montreal is not the 'Promised Land'. If I had to go, which I am not quite at that point, my wife and I already discussed the Paris option, no problems, no qualms whatsoever. However, Montreal being much closer, is a much more suitable alternative for some. I, for one, hope this materializes.
