Re: Dr. Denkler
Hi Patricia,
Thanks for checking the list! First, you are absolutely correct that when you asked Dr. Denkler he had NOT had the training.
However he left for France very soon after and is in Paris now.
So by the time he returns and is again available to offer N.A., he will have had that training.
I'm surprised he didn't mention his impending trip when you spoke to him about it!!!
Best wishes to all..
Susan

Let Helpful Info.Rise to The Top!!!
I bring this good info. to the top for the benefit of those who might want to know more about the non-surgical Needle Aponeurotomy option before making a decision about Dupuytrens treatment.
LIST OF DOCTORS OFFERING NEEDLE APONEUROTOMY* TREATMENT FOR DUPUYTRENS CONTRACTURE IN U.S. (Updated 12/11/05)
please let us know of any corrections or additions
FOR INTERNATIONAL DOCTORS PERFORMING N.A. see: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/f.badois-dupuytren/html/liste.html
*(N.A. is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for Dupuytrens which effectively breaks the cords which cause contraction of the fingers, thereby releasing them. The procedure has been available in France for many years with an excellent safety record and was introduced in the U.S. in 2003 by Dr. Charles Eaton. Since then a number of other doctors have begun offering N.A. to their patients as an alternative to open hand surgery. Drs. Eaton and Kline both have informative websites (see below). Dr. Eaton's site contains some information which is more technical, and Dr. Kline's own experience with Dupuytrens adds a personal touch.) KEY: FT = FRENCH-TRAINED

M.D. List for Marco & Thomas
Marco & Thomas both posted under another topic but seemed to be searching for alternatives to surgery. I told them I'd bring this list to the top for their info.

Who cares?
I'm confused. The french website does not list Drs Barry, Benheim or Borland as having trained with them yet the list was updated Jan 22, 2006. I know Borland has not been trained by the french but what about the other two?

*bump*
We've been through this a million times before. There's a huge difference between doctors who are self taught vs doctors who have been trained and patients have a right to know which is which so they can make up their own minds.
Censorship is an ugly thing.

Hubris
Thanks Bert/Jon. I am sure that Dr. B. is well regarded; my concern is about "credentialing." Anyone with a D.O., or an M.D. can legally perform a percutaneous fasciectomy. Most of us prefer to know that we are not "early on the learning curve" of medical practice. Simply asking the doctor, "How, many times have you done this?"is not an unreasonable question. "Where did you learn this procedure?" is not an unreasonable question. An answer like, "It is a very simple procedure requiring no special training for an experienced board certified hand surgeon," is an invitation to proceed to the nearest exit. Two fingers a day 200 days a year is a lot of money once the practice management people point out the simplicity of the procedure to people attuned to "profit centers." Do due diligence people! Check "The List" (La Liste.) Caveat Emptor. Thank you very much.
