Re: Every day management of Ledderhosen

Di,

I don't know how to use that quote feature I was trying to answer your previous quote.

The reason I wear the NB 846 shoe is b/c my pdoc at the time likes that shoe. But I have found every pdoc has a favorite shoe or some let you pick your own. But that one was the right one for me, b/c have tried every other brand out there and nothing else works for me. We are all unique even though we all have LD.

When I feel a need to stretch my toes I will sit or lie down and point ttoes at the ceiling, this is a gentle stretch but it works and also stretches the calves which for me get very tight.

By the way Road Runner Sports (online) has a VIP club if you join for the year you can purchase your shoes and wear for (90) days (outside of course) and return postage free if they do not work out for you. Plus you always get a mark down price on whatever you buy called the VIP price . This is where I buy all my walking shoes you can't beat that, even though now I only buy the one brand, I like the principle. Only one member in a family has to join and the whole family can benefit. They specialize in running shoes but these do not have enough suport for my issues. I am not affliated with this co. in any way .

Hi Loonsong
Thanks for the tips. I'll try your advice re the foot stretch out as I've definitely learned my lesson about flexing the balls of my feet - EEEK

That VIP membership sounds too good to be true. I wonder if I will be able to get the VIP membership with that returns policy from Australia? I'll check it out

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this condition - I really appreciate your help!

Hi Wolfgang,

Don't believe we have met. Thanks I think I've got it now, although it captures the whole message,
so I guess you can delete if you only want to quote part of the message.

I used to get my feet UP every day at lunch time but lately I have not been doing that I have had so much energy. But at night I sit in a chair and my feet come UP. But I can not stay that way for too long as I have restless leg syndrome so I get up and walk arround do chores etc.

Hi Loonsong
Restless leg syndrome - you know some people have suggested there might be a relationship between the two conditions?

I have experimented with my feet up as per your advice and it seems to help. I find sitting and standing stationary hurts the most, especially at the end of a day of not moving around much (i.e. every day at work for me)

Now I'm trying to figure out why: I'm thinking maybe a circulation issue where blood pools around the nodules when standing and sitting, making the nodules ache more.

I feel better after exercise and if my theory is correct, it might be because it gets the circulation flowing.

Just a few thoughts

Di

Hi Loonsong,
Not sure about all Thorlo socks but the ones I have purchased in past are thickly padded...too hot for AZ summers for me! I live in Teva flip flops as long as I can.

Hi Debrr,

I used to wear my black Teva sandals w/ black socks under long dresses even to the opera in New Orleans. But my feet were hurting so much I had to abandon them not enough support. Oh and I started to trip and sprain my ankles
a lot (low thyroid) that was the main reason (I needed something that stayed with my feet like a tennis shoe).

My Smart Wool socks are very thickly paded and wool but wool breathes and it gets into the triple digits in the summer here with mid - high humidity and I stay cool as can be, best socks I ever had. The inside is looped/wooly so there are plenty of air spaces.

Hi Di,

Never heard of a connection between RLS and LD.

Too bad you cannot get the gel/cream.

Re: Every day management of Ledderhosen

Hi Loonsong
The connection between RLS and our condition was made on this website by others that have both in one or two threads I have read. I'm not sure about how this stands up scientifically, but who would know when no-one (except the patients suffering the condition) seems to know much about it

I'm sure I will get the cream - do you mean the verapamil cream? However the pain in the nodules isn't the worst for me, it's more the nerve pain that bothers me at the end of the day. I will definitely use the cream if the nodules get worse, however I'm living in hope that the RT will stop the progression and reduce the symptoms
