Thank you! Sounds like you're pretty rough on your hands because of your outside work. But your report is encouraging because I have a lot of pruning to do in our Texas native plant gardens every spring. I couldn't bear to give that up! But I'll be wearing good gloves, that's for sure.

I get that. My quality of life would be significantly reduced if I lost full use of my hands! Gardening is great relaxation!

Re: Seguimiento de diez años de radioterapia con antecedentes
Tomorrow I finish my RT treatment. I have two small cords, one on each hand, and small, almost imperceptible nodules on both hands. My mobility is normal and I had pain and fatigue in my little fingers. After the first session, the pain disappeared, as did some of the inflammation. I like the gym and swimming. Does anyone know if it is bad to continue with these sports? I hope that the RT stops the progression, since I am 30 years old.

Hi Oscar I am older, also small cords and nodules. I had RT 15 years ago and have continued all sports including cycling, tennis, some light weights, weekly swim, with (almost) no problems at all, my DD is quiet. I have modified some activities, that basically means wearing appropriate gloves for the activity. I resumed tennis one week after the first round of 5 sessions. I did not at first notice any improvement after RT for something like 18 months or more. So my experience is to carry on, not quite as usual but look after the hands more than you did in the past. However with DD everyone has different experiences so YMMV. Best wishes SB

Oscar; Best wishes on a successful outcome with your RT treatments. As far as I know (I read quite a bit of scientific medical reports on DC) the overuse concern for DC is an old wives tale, and perhaps even used as a rationalization for dealing with acceptance of DC onset. I know my father (now 92 and long term DC sufferer) used to say that DC was due to overuse; however, all the credible literature I've read says it's hereditary, not overuse, that makes DC progress. I am hard on my hands and although I do experience fatigue and soreness, I'm pretty sure that it is due to overuse, not DC, as my DC has not progressed in over a decade and I've used my hands often and very vigorously. Good luck.
