SEVERE PAIN AFTER NA

It has been almost three weeks since NA on my left hand and I am still in pain 24/7. The pain is about 8 out of 10. Does anyone have any suggestions how to alleviate the pain without taking pain meds? Please let me know. Thankss.

Re: SEVERE PAIN AFTER NA

abba55; I have had NA 5 times and on each occasion while the procedure itself was painful I have had very little residual pain and cannot understand why there would be lasting pain unless you have an infection. If you have pain weeks after NA it seems likely to me that something else is going on and you should get a doctor to look at it.

I should qualify my comments to say that if the pain you are getting is like an electric shock then that is an indication of nerve damage and that may take months to resolve. If this is the case there is not much you can do other than to avoid the movement that causes the shock.

Re: SEVERE PAIN AFTER NA

if nerve pain is the issue ..I believe vitamin B6 may help ...also gently tapping the site ..helps heal a nicked nerve....in time the nerve nerve will settle down ...if that is the source of discomfort..
not an expert .. but I think infections from N.A. are rare..

Hello all,
This is my very first time using a forum, I came to this forum because I need to know if I am the only one who has sharp pains like a cleaver wedged into the palm of my hands, I also have itchcy palms and have difficulty scratching because of the tenderness. I have had already 2 surgeries on my left hand and another upcoming surgery in my right hand this Feb. Thank you so much for sharing your stories I thought I was the only one with this condition.

Re: SEVERE PAIN AFTER NA

Your pain may have a variety of reasons, like nerve irritation or a slightly damaged joint. What is your doctor's diagnosis and recommendation?

With a little bit of luck your pain will eventually become less and eventually go away but I guess that won't help you right now ...

Wishing you quick recovery!

Wolfgang

Re: SEVERE PAIN AFTER NA

Temporary soreness for a few days is not unusual, nor typical.
Severe, or prolonged pain is unusual and deserves follow-up
by the Dr. Get an evaluation; and a diagnosis. Get a second
opinion if necessary. GL.
