17-year update!
Hi, everyone!
I first found this forum in 2005 when I got my first knuckle pad at the age of 30. Since then, I had it removed (it grew right back, then shrunk to barely noticeable). I now have four more pads, plus Ledderhose and a slowly contracting left thumb I've decided finally needs more attention.
By coincidence, today I met a woman with Dups and a pinky finger that contracted badly after surgery. She says she's ready to have it amputated. I've never heard of this with Dups and can't fathom it.
I'm in Allentown, PA and have an appointment scheduled with a local hand surgeon trained in NA. Have any of you heard of him?

I'm also going to call Dr. Gary Pess, but he's a 1.5 hour drive.

Hi pixi
Dr Talsania gets mentioned positively in the FB groups (for NA). Good luck with your appointment and treatment.
Also you can find a few people who have had pinkie amputations in the groups, and we have threads discussing it on our forum. I responded to one this week on FB asking about a ray amputation.

Re: 17-year update!
Thanks, SB! I did read that thread, and it's scary that surgery may have been responsible for the need to amputate.

Re: 17-year update!
Hi, everyone. I wanted to give you all an update since this forum has been helpful to me in the near two decades with this weird condition.
Wish I could attach a pic, but I don't see how to do it on this forum.
I ended up doing a Zoom consult with Dr. Pess late summer. He didn't think I was a candidate for needle release, and since he's 2 hours away he suggested I see Dr. Talsania near me.
Friday Dr. Talsania did an incision to release the left thumb, and he injected knuckle pads in four other fingers. He also injected the base of my right thumb, where I had a nodule removed ten years ago.
Before the surgery, I asked him if we should also operate on my left index finger. I have a knuckle pad AND a nodule under the joint, and it looks to me like it is starting to contract. But Dr. T advised against operating it, and injected it instead.
I was really worried about post-op pain as my surgery ten years ago was a painful recovery, but this is has been much better. I haven't had to take the narcotic. I barely feel anything at the incision site. However, the injection sites are very stiff and tender.
I sure hope this surgery works and there is no further contraction. My right hand thumb never contracted again after that surgery. I feel less confident about the knuckle pads. Stubborn little buggers.
