Re: 24 years old and showing signs of dupuytren's

I am so sorry to hear that at your age of getting this disease!! Mine came on last summer and has continued to grow. I have it in both hands and Ledderhose on my feet. I am going next week for radiation treatment and I can't wait. I hope it stops the growth. My doctors keep telling me to come abck when I can no longer lay my hands flat! Why wait that long and let it take over even more. Best of luck!

While I do not know where you live, I do not believe you need to go to Germany for RT. Find a specialist in a radiology centre who reads and understands the literature on the disease. Treatment is not complex. I know sometimes this is easier said than done. Also be aware of the cancer risk implications of RT for a benign disease in a 24yr old.

    Good luck

    Stephen

Where do you live. I'm in U.S., New York and i am going in for tratment Monday 10/31/11 at Dr.Hurst's office.
The pictures of your hands look like mine did years ago when Dup first began (though i had no idea of what it was then)
I thought i had bad callous build up from using hand tools.
I will be reccieving collangenese treatment, and can't wait.
I don't thik your fingers are contracting enough yet to have treatment, one of my hands has very little degree of contracture and i was told we would not treat it while the other hand is quite severe. Not a medical opinion by any means, just an observation that the 15 degree contracture was not of major concern to the doctor at this point.
Go to see someone who is a specialist for Dupytren's as soon as you can.

I just returned from Hamburg, I had my first RT treatment last week. Your nodule looks very much like mine does, I also have several others that are not as large and several cords. My advice would be to contact Prof Seegenschmied via email and tell him what is going on in your hand. Tell him about any burning or pain that you may have. I can't say enough about how good he & his staff are. I also have some activity in my right hand, but he advised not to treat it at this time. He has treated over 1,000 people with this disease and in my opinion he is definitely the go-to guy for RT.

I actually am planning to go to Germany on the 21st of November. I e-mailed prof. s and sent him pics and he told me that I was a good candidate for RT. I am from Houston Texas, by the way. The only problem I have currently is getting my passport expedited. Does anyone here have any info on how to do this? Do I have to purchase the flight tickets first to show them that I'm in a hurry and that I need my tickets ASAP?

In such young age I would seek the best advice and look for early preventive strategies ...

Certainly I can confirm, that Prof. Seegenschmiedt is probably the best choice for you to receive full consultation and probably the best early intervention possible,

            Good luck in Hamburg, Larry

Well hello fellow Texan! You should contact the nearest passport office, I know they will expidite, but I have no idea if they can get you one that fast. If you have any questions about the procedure or Hamburg (awesome city) feel free to PM me.

              Best of luck to you!

              Michael
