Any stigma to having Dupuytren's?

We've all seen the list of supposed risk factors for this- alcoholism, TB, cirrhosis, etc. Even the New York Times Health Guide lists these, and they're usually pretty up-to-date. Reading old threads here, which have addressed, in particular alcoholism, it looks like very few people on this forum fit that profile. Probably more with diabetes than in the general population, but we're not living on Skid Row.

My question- have people had trouble with doctors assuming they are unrepentant or hidden alcoholics when they come in with Dupuytren's? I keep hearing, over and over, that doctors all assume that patients lie, they double the amount you say you drink and halve the amount you tell them you exercise and eat vegetables. What have people's experiences been?

Intersting you should ask that. When I first told my OBGYN and when it was time for the old colonoscopy again, both doctors looked at me and said "you know, that it associated with alcoholism". I said yes I had read that and that both my grandmother and aunt had DD and that alcohol had never crossed their lips. I then told them that my family was living proof that alcoholism had nothing to do with DD.
