I was in Oaklahoma for the multiple cord clinical study Tues and weds and that come up in the conversation. They r doin a long term follow up on the people from the first study 6 years ago and so far the reacurance rate arround 10 percent so far.

So at this point, even at six years out, you only have 10% of the people having it recur. That's good to know. From my understanding, the recurrence rate also has to do with how advanced the disease was at the time of the injections.

Ya everyone is differrent and that was just for thier clinic in Oaklahoma,Auxillium has all the data.Just dont know when it will be published. He is doing my hands and Ive had 5 surgeries and failed needle releases,Dr Fraizer doesnt care how contracted they are he can release them with Xiaflex. The clinic Manager watches every proceedure and has seen them contracted all the way to the palm or just a few degrees its worked on all 175 injections.I go back in couple weeks I see if any more information is available.I have 2 more cords and 2 vials of Xiaflex left.My hand looks awesome, except for the big skin split,OUCH.My left hand is next and the ring finger is over 100 degrees. He says it will work even on that one.Dave

Re: Appointment with Dr. Costas today

That is great to hear, Dave. I'm glad you've had such success with your hand. What caused the skin to split?

Dr. Costas has done over 400 injections. He did the trials as well. I didn't ask him about the success rate but I will. It made me feel better knowing he is someone who has done so many of the injections because this is an area were experience really makes a difference.

Dave,

That is great! It is good to hear about the results over time and done as research.

My finger was contracted for years and the skin will fold under the contraction then when they straighten it out it splits like a baloon popping. Its gross.

Yikes, that sounds painful. And gross. I hope it heals up quickly.
