Re: Australian Experience

Hi to all,
Dael good luck and to all fellow DD's. I think we should all place our oncologist/specialist names on the site and encourage them to contact each other both in OZ and world wide so that they can talk to each other and share feedback.
It is difficult enough, as i found out only too well to find an ally or somebody to treat you but no doubt the chances would be vastly improved if we could say, "well dont take my word for it call DR....... and he can share his experience, knowledge with you". That would have more impact than the layman approach trying to convince an all too busy and sometimes aloof and out of touch proffessional who is reluctant to change and try new treatments. Having said that after my struggle, as stated in the initial write up of 'Australian Experience'. I did manage to locate an open and fair minded specialist.
My doctor is Dr Chris Harper-24 Salvado Road Wembley, Perth, Western Australia 6014.

Get these doctors informed and working/networking with us and with each other to stop a lot of uncalled for grief and and disability. A simple lack of knowledge.
P.S. I am doing fine and my hands are looking good some 2 months after treatment and looking forward to following on with the Canadian Audiosonic treatment to make me 'perfect' again. (not that i ever was).
Good Luck to you all.

alanr.

Re: Australian Experience

Hi All,

Teresa, The Peter Mac people gave me a card to present whenever I go for any treatment or Dr visit there. They also indicated it was 100% bulk billed. Or that is my understanding of the service offered. I have been to see Dr Greg Wheeler once and never received an account so presume bulk billing was used. They didn't even ask if I had private cover.

Alan R, what is the Canadian treatment you were talking about please? Is this a secondary thing after the radiation therapy? Haven't heard about it before.

Going to Dr Wheeler again on the 24th of August, will let you know what happens.

Cheers,

Tomo

Re: Australian Experience

Thanks AlanR for the Dr's name, great to know someone local who may help, I have the nodules and tendon tuck on the right hand, it has been like that for years and not got worse, but when I've recovered from tomorrows surgery, with an orthopedic surgeon, I'll look into doing something about it. Have you found anyone in WA who does NA? I'll start searching when I'm better, or follow up the Melbourne lead. Thanks for the Forum, it is enlightening, as the surgery option has been the only one I knew about. Interesting about glucosamine and Vit C possibly compounding the situation! I've stopped the C immediately! DaelH

Re: Australian Experience

Hi,

Thanks for that info Stomo. Bulk Billing means I can get stuck into this treatment ASAP. Can't wait as my DD seems to be progressing fairly rapidly.

I'm due to see my GP next week so all being well, she will give me my referral.

Will keep you updated - good luck everyone.

Teresa
