I have had this my whole life

At 3 days old my mother discovered a quiet large lump on the palm of my left had, but of course at that age doctors thought it was nothing, by 6 months my ring finger and almost completely contracted in so the misdiagnosed it a trigger finger and operated. By 8 months old it just started to contact again and the lump was growing larger and impending on anything I every tried to do, this time I was thankfully taken to the Royal Childerens hospital Melbourne after my mother was not happy with how the local surgeon was just going to treat it as a trigger finger again. After a insual consult it was decide the surgery was needed again ASAP and I was taken in the next week. This cleard up majority of the growths and after a lot of intensive physo I was finally able to use my hand. The growths would happen every now and then but they did not cause any real issues till I was 14 which is when I started to again lose use of my hand due to contractions and growths. They oparated again at the Roayl Children's Hospital Melbourne and after the physo again I only every got small amounts of growths at very small times. I'm now 18 and they are stating to cause a few problems again but I'm unsure if surgery is really the best option for this?

Is there anyone with some advice or similar stories, my grandmother is only now staring to develop it to so here I am teaching her all about it and what she can do

Re: I have had this my whole life

So what was the diagnosis of your problem? It certainly doesn't sound like Dupuytren's at that age.

It has been diagnosed as dupytrens and confirmed by a number of surgeons and therapist, the surgeon who diagnosed it at the children's hospital works not only there but at a few of the Melbourne hospitals and is 100% sure that it is Dupuytrens

It sounds like it is active again. With active Dupuytren's, radiotherapy/RT is a treatment option. Your case is very unusual, but if it were I, I would go for RT.

Read all about RT on this site under treatment and see if it makes sense for you disease.
