Current status of the project

I've lost track of the contact and curious if what follows rings a bell with any of you. The basics of the project consisted of enzyme injections into the Dupuytren's affected area. The enzyme reacts / dissolves / metabolizes the "collagen" releasing the contracture. Didn't sound like a smoke and mirrors project at all. Research results were promising. I had e-mail contact with the MD researcher who suggested additional clinical trials were in process and that the FDA would be looking at the results. The contraction in my left, little finger had reached about 120 degrees. The researcher said FDA approval was several years away. My last contact was a couple years ago and I've lost the e-mail address. I elected to have the surgery which went well. At any rate curious if any of you know of the progress of the research. Originally publishes I believe in a medical journal - "The Journal of Hand Surgery" or something like that.

Doug,
Glad your surgery went well. The collagenase has been discussed several times on this forum. The company going through the FDA approval is the sponser of this forum.

phase III trials

I think the phase III trials got stalled because Biospecifics ran out of money. About a week ago they arranged some new financing which they say is enough to restart the trials, but not to complete the approval process. They also have a long standing problem with a manufacturing plant which drastically cut their income.

If they don't run out of money, the trials may get going this year, and if they can solve their bigger financial problems, injectable Collagenase will be available some years from now.

All of this is public knowledge:
