D/C after trigger finger operation

My husband has D/C and has it successfully worked on by the 'French Needle'. Conicidently, my father also has D/C. When I read the forums I notice trigger finger mentioned often. So I have three questions. Who here has had D/C appear after trigger finger surgery? How old are you? What is your sex? Just curious. A.M.

Appearance of Dupuytren~sq~s after surgery for stenosing tenosynovitis (trigger finger)

I had my first trigger finger/thumb surgery on my right(dominant)hand thumb in August, 1992. At the same time the hand surgeon worked on what was originally dx'd as a ganglia cyst on the medial (inner) surface of my right wrist. The wrist turned out to be a ruptured tendon sheath; the thumb was classic trigger finger. The doctor told me at the time that both were probably a result of a bicyling accident in 1987 where I landed on my hands (knuckles down, with the right hand and right knee taking most of the impact). This surgery was successful and I regained full use of my hand and wrist. In November, 1998, after a long period of denial re: the return of the symtoms, I had trigger finger surgery on the middle finger of my right hand. At the incision site in the right palm,I developed an elongated, transverse ridge following and lying over the incision scar. I presumed it was excess scar tissue and thought nothin of it. However, it persisted, though gradual diminishing in size except for a nodule that remained and gradually appeared to spread to the area under the ring finger where it developed the classic Dupuytren's nodule with cord. In addition the ring finger has now developed the symtoms of trigger finger. I am scheduled for a palmar fasciotomy for removal of the Dupuytren's nodule and cord and repair of the tendon and sheath on 27 Nov, 2001. These hand problems have ended my bedside nursing career.

Recovery period after surgery?

I had the palmar surgery on my right hand 3 years ago. It healed smoothly and there's been no recurrence so far. So, although the progress of this disease seems to be unpredictable, tell yourself that surgery can be successful and that there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel in the form of injectable Collagenase.

Full recovery from the palmar surgery takes up to a year, but my hand was fairly functional after a few weeks.

Recovery period after surgery?

How long after surgery should I expect to wait for physical activity such as golf or tennis? I am having open palm technique on my little finger with 90 degrees contraction. Age 55 yrs. non smoker/no alcohol.

post-op physio for trigger finger surgery

Actually I'm recovering from my second surgery right now. I'ts been about 3 weeks. By "fairly functional" I mean I can do ordinary 2-handed tasks - like tying my shoes, flossing my teeth or typing. The incisions are healed over but the hand is still swollen and 'touchy' in those areas. Things like golf or tennis require a firm and flexible grip, as well as being able to tolerate some impact, and I think that's still a few weeks away.

I think people probably heal at very different rates, so your mileage may vary.
