Does Age, M/F, etc. really matter?

I am a 47-yr old female, in excellent health, and have no DC in my family. (I'm not a heavy drinker either.) I've already had 3 surgeries, in the past 4 years, and need to have another soon. One of the 3 was a re-occurance of the right pinkie after only one year. Are there any other gals, younger folks, out there than can relate? I'm already frustrated and it doesn't look like it's something that's going to go away.

DC

Karen,
The little finger has the greatest and earliest chance for recurrence, regardless of the method of correction. Also, the earlier in life a person contracts DC, the more severe the problem (usually). Some studies show a slight connection between alcohol use. Your genetic makeup is the most significant and it can skip generations and siblings. That is what makes DC so interesting.

Karen mine started in my right hand when i was 16, male non drinker, but do take an anti siezure medication. had to have the same hand done again as it came back within about a yr, had a skin graft the second time in 2 areas one in my palm to repair a large scar mass with DC in it and a small one in my little finger, skin was from my wrist the surgeon said this would also help stop DC from growing along the same area, he did mention a methord of taking an area about 1in in diamiter and giving it a quarter turn which would make the DC grow across rather than along the tendon area.
after 5yrs am happy with what was done to my right hand finger was stage 3 is straight and works great.

That's very interesting about making it grow in a different direction. I wonder if that's why some people only get DC in the palms, could be their particular hand physiology.
