please keep me posted
I am most interested in any and all info on or about the French needle treatment. My prayer is that this treatment becomes available in the U.S. and that the greed of the F.D.A. and M.D.'s who choose to hold onto the "surgery only" concept have their hearts' touched by the compassionate love of Spirit.

Aponeviotomy in France
Please send any contacts you may have in France regarding the needle treatment. My husband is scheduled for his second DC surgery on Fen. 7 and we'd like to check out alternatives before commiting to surgery again. Thank you.

french needle
Hi, A place to start is: http://www.jvm.com/wstagner/main.htm
When you get there, go to the bottom and select 'Links', then when you get the list select 'Daves dupuytren's Contracture Page', this page has e-mail address and Dr. Badois web page listed. Dr. Badois, is the French surgeon who performs NA in paris. Some of the other sites give an exact detailing of costs, where people stayed, how to get from particular hotels to Dr. Badois's office. As I said, check out some of the other links - good information.

Current Information
I have been in touch with Dr. Badois (who does the Aponeurotomy treatment) and Dr. Hurst (Collagenase treatment).
Dr. Badois asked for digital photos of my affected hand to determine extent of involvement. His response included the following description: "Needle aponevrotomy is an outpatient procedure. The recovery time and the wait between two sessions (if required) is about 4 to 8 days. A bandage is to be worn for three days without wetting or soiling it and it is advisable not to engage in any strenuous activities (heavy household work, handyman chores, gardening) for two weeks, but normal activities (driving, writing ...) are allowed immediately."
He quoted the cost of the procedure as 180 Euros in cash ( roughtly US$220).
Dr. Hurst said, "Our collagenase studies are in PHASE III under the FDA and the studies are currently all full. Hopefully in the future collagenase will be approved and generally available but when is not predictable and up to the FDA"
I have read elsewhere that the Phase III study is expected to be completed in 2005.

Concert Pianist with early Dupuytren~sq~s (ruined career)
Is Needle Aponevrotomy available in the US. Will it be? No doctor will operate on my hand because "it is not severe enough" yet it is plenty bad enough to destroy my great career. I can still lay my hand flat on a table but the nodules are very evident. Is there anyone in Canada who will do this procedure? Need help!
