I'm due to go in and have a third operation on DP in my hands on Tuesday. Today I was speaking to the consultant. He said that he had tried this form of treatment over a period of a year or so in an English hospital, but stopped it as the vast majority of his patients showed no benefit whatsoever. He couldn't understand why the French doctors wasted their time and their patients hopes with it. Sorry to be so negative....but there seems no alternative to me, at the end of the day, but to excise as much of the DP as possible by careful and concise surgery. As a matter of interest, he thought the way DP grew could well inflame and cause nerves in the vicinity to react...though the DP in itself is not painful.

Having had 12 removed I didn't think this French needle would be anything but temporary. I feel that having them removed as early as possible is best. There is less to remove and a better chance of getting it all. I have had the best luck with the early surgeries not returning. Ones that I waited on have caused big problems with nerve damage pain. Working the tendon right after surgery even popping a stitch has proved the best. I am a 51 year old male with them starting at 30. Perry

Has anyone read or have access to a study presented at a lecture/symposium hosted by Dr. Moermans. It is entitled: Dupuytren's Disease, Open or Needle Technique presented by Ph. Hoang.
Dr. Moermans is considered a world renowned authority of Dupuytren's Disease.
Eddie, is this critique available locally?
Thank you, Gary
