Just Diagnosed

What is the availability of this new treatment? Perhaps
someone should host a geographic page that list doctors
that are delivering this treatment.

I have not been diagnosed with Dupuytrens but after some
web research it is sounding like it's the case. I have
a doctors appt. tomorow which will no doubt lead to a referal to a hand spec. etc. etc.

Basically I have a knot of tissue in the palm of my hand
between my index and ring finger. After climbing yesterday
my index finger is very sore. This pain is new. The knot
has been around a couple weeks.

If anyone knows of doctors in the pittsburgh area that
administer this treatment please let me know as I may be
more curious about it in a couple days.

Just Diagnosed

For a couple of months my small finger and ring finger have been bent in toward the palm of my hand. The little finger also sticks out, leaving a space between it and the other fingers. I haven't noticed any significant bump or swelling on my palm. Basically, I noticed it because I found it difficult to handle small change in this hand.

I went to see a doctor about it today and he told me that it was Dupuytren's Contracture, that I was very young to suffer this complaint (I'm a 31 y/o male), and that it could be related to alcohol consumption.

This last observation doesn't seem likely judging from the research I've been doing on the net tonight. It seems that other factors might be cigarette smoking and diabetes. I have been smoking excessively due to stress over the past six months and there is a history of diabetes in my family (though I've had no indication that I am a diabetic).

So, anyway, if anyone could clarify any of this I would be very appreciative. Or if anyone could suggest any appropriate medical centres in Sydney, Australia, that would also be helpful.

Thanks,
Stephen.

Non-Surgical Cure ?

Hope you can help!

I’m new to the Dupuytren's forum, but not to Dupuytren's that showed up about 10 years ago. Had surgery on my left hand 2 years ago but Dupuytrenn's is now back in the L hand worse than ever. So I know from experience surgery is only a stopgap.

I know about the French Needle so I am very interested in info about non-surgical cures. Question:

1) Are there any legit non-surgical cures? Who and where?
2)Is the SUNY Stony Brook cure near going public? Any info on the status?
3)Are there any doctors (or anyone else) doing injections? Who and where?

Please help with any info you have. I don’t want any more surgery!

Thanks.

Hope

Is there really hope? Will collegenase ever be available? Or will we have to fly to France every so often?
